Hello everyone!!!
So do you all have your Sailors home for the holidays?!! I sure hope so! I picked up Thor early this morning from GL.
Thanks for all the help, answers and guidance FTLW!! Merry Christmas to you!
Leaving this group now...Have a Merry Christmas Everyone!
801 moms.....I have set up a group for our guys BUD/s Class. Message me for details as we continue on this journey
Jo...I have not seen that trailer but have heard about it. There was a discussion about it on the SEAL Moms group a while ago.
Navywife....I saw a list of things our guys will need for BO when they get to San Diego, we might get some of those things for Thor for Christmas...or a NEX giftcard....or both. I think we'll get him a Packers jersey now that he's with a bunch of guys all with different sports teams loyalties. It's fun to have good-natured rivalries during the NFL season.
Jenn....my son's favorite SEAL book is a book called The Heart and the Fist. It is supposed to be really good and covers the compassionate side of the SEAL life. I'm still trying to bring myself to begin reading some of them. I guess it's time.
Haha, thanks Jenn. :p It's an interesting lifestyle change to have someone that wants to provide for me (and already is), instead of no one really doing it and me having to bust my ass to have the things that I have.
The last part of Matt's gift was ordered today, now just to anxiously await its arrival at my dorm, so I can pack it up with the rest of his things and ship it out for christmas. :)
He got the job he wanted, apparently-- ET Radioman. I told him that they don't speak "trucker" on submarines. He wasn't pleased with my joke. :p
Jo - You are just so stinkin' cute!!! Matt's a lucky guy.
Not sure about what to get the kiddo for Christmas either. I'm going to get him a couple DVD's - he's going to take his laptop back with him. He's thinking about getting a small tv for his room and bringing out his x-box. Regardless I am going to get him the games he's asked for because that is all he REALLY wants. So after the morning of the 25th I don't think I'll see him much until he's ready to leave on the 30th. :)
Someone on one of the other sites mentioned she had found a box with some type of Navy emblem on the top that he can keep small things in - like his watch, or whatever. It could sit on his desk. I like the book ideas. I may look into one of those even though B isn't training for Seals - he likes all things Navy and I think he may have more time to read when he does have down time.
I'm having trouble coming up with things to buy my son for Christmas. He's not going to need much this year and won't be able to keep a lot with him. I'm thinking of getting him an electric blanket so he can warm up at night. Any ideas?
AZK.....my husband and my son both read The Warrior Elite and my husband read The Lone Survivor. If your son hasn't watched "Navy SEALS: BUDS class 234" he needs to watch it over break. It's a series of 2 or 3 DVD's. It's a documentary of SEAL training. Very neat, but as a mom it's nerve wracking.
AZKmom: have you seen (or has he seen) the trailer for Act of Valor? It's about Navy SEALS. I think the movie comes out sometime next year. If he's got all the SEAL books, he might enjoy the movie. I dunno.
Matt's meeting with the Chaplain today for some pre-marriage stuff. I'm excited but terrified as all get-out at the same time. Up until I met Matt I never wanted to be married, ever, and somehow in the time we've been together that view got completely flipped around.
I guess I'm just not sure what to make of it sometimes.
navywife....Actually, I found out his girlfriend's mom took a cake over to him. Now I feel like a bad mom haha. Hopefully he shared! I did buy him a wallet at the exchange when I found he was carrying his ID and debit card in his coat pocket. And I have The Warrior Elite ordered for delivery to him. He has all other Navy SEAL books.
Jo....have a fun Skype present opening! What a great idea!
Happy belated birthday to Thor! :)
Managed to get Matt to agree to a "Skype Date" on the 19th--in theory, we should have our Xmas gifts from each other by that point, so we can sit and open them with each other via Skype.
I may have started a wrapping-war. /innocent whistling
He's spoiled the crap out of me and I know it, and in turn I'm bringing out his inner kid with junk food. LOL. I told him he should share with his shipmates, and he's like
"NO. They're mine. Whatever they are. It's not dog poop, is it?"
What a goofball. :p
