RCPO- My daughter is in 008 I would love to know more stuff... I am so proud of you for going back! Hang in there!!! :)
That's also good that you are staying optimistic about going back in! Thank you for your service.
Wow thank you RCPO, my son is Div 007, glad they are in great hands
Hi everyone! I was the RCPO of DIV 008 but was recently released due to asthma (but will be going back in 6 months on a waiver hopefully!) I am glad to see lots of support here and would like to let you all (at least for 008 & 007) know that your loved ones are in GREAT hands!!! contact me if you have any questions on anything that happened before oct 28th and i will try to answer it!!! Also i believe today is 008 & 007's Drill assesment and 2nd test so lets wish them luck!!!!
We are flying into Ohare at 4:00pm 11/22. We will go to our hotel to get comfy and then plan to go to M&G. I definitely would like to go to Sarge's and don't have a problem with stopping at Ramada on the way to meet with everyone first, if you all decide that's what you want to do (how far apart are the Ramada and Sarge's M&G?). I plan to wear comfy boots, turtleneck/blouse, red scarf, and a casual skirt to PIR.
I think I will be wearing Jeans and a sweater also, my boots are pretty easy to walk in so not worried about that.
@Jenn, I read just today (RDC facebook page by the RDC personnel) that if our SR's are flying to A school, they will have Wednesday and Thursday and will be flying out on Friday to their A school.
I'm going to just go to Sarge's MeetNGreet, I don't get into O'Hare until 4:20 p.m. that day so with getting the rental car and driving to the hotel I think I will only want to be at one place, plus being on the West Coast, probably will try to go to bed a little earlier than later since my body clock will say it's really early Wednesday morning when I have to get up
Since Sarge's MeetnGreet goes for longer, maybe all can stop in at the Ramada's at 6 for just a little while and then head over to Sarge's?
Jenn: I wore boots to my son's PIR that were very comfortable to walk in. Yes, please keep comfort in mind on PIR day because there is a good deal of walking involved! You are also sitting in bleachers.
I was thinking Sarge's too because he does have a lot of info - but the Ramada has been doing it for so long I don't know if I should feel some loyalty to them. I was thinking Sarge's though but hadn't committed.
I am thinking jeans with a nice sweater and boots. I'd like to wear cute ones with heels but wonder about the walking. I'm on a mission this Sunday to find something to wear!
Diana - I'm fine dividing the Thanksgiving day meal by families - that is much easier than by person and really the cost difference isn't that huge. Do we want to up the count by a few in case any of our SR's have a friend from the division that doesn't have family to go out with? I've asked mine - but I know my boy and he is more of a last minute type of guy so wouldn't think to invite until PIR. I think the graduates don't fall under the same rules as the other SR's about leaving base - if I remember reading some posts from veterans some would take kids out to dinner with them if they didn't have anyone there. Does that sound right to anyone who has been through this?\
I'll keep it in my prayers that their ship out date is pushed back - although my ex (who is retired Navy) just gave me a long lecture about expecting them to be shipped out even though it would be Thanksgiving. I hope it's not till Friday - I really want the time plus I REALLY don't want my ex to be right.
It's Wednesday!! Woo Hoo!! That means that it is letter day (hopefully!). At this time in 2 weeks ladies we will be sitting in that hall watching our kids graduate! I Can't Wait!!!
I sure wish I could go. If I was going I would choose Sarge's event. Might still try to see if it fits in the schedule. My husband and I are still supporters of our son's former high school wrestling team and our daughter is the varsity wrestling manager. The night before PIR is our intrasquad meet to determine the starting varsity lineup per weight class. I think our son would like us to be there so he can hear the news of it the next day.
Tiffani I was thinking the same thing... I wonder if we could all agree to go to one or the other so we can spend time together :) I like that he has shuttle to and from just in case I wanna have a few of those $2 drinks lol What is everyone else's opinion?
