Two weeks from today I will be sitting at the PDX airport waiting to fly out to O'Hare! So excited. I'm in for Thanksgiving also, so 3 of us will be going to that. Not sure what we will be doing after PIR. Might be taking the train into Chicago. Will have to play that one by ear
TJL: I will be asking you all to please private message me with Battlestations dates so I can keep a schedule here. You will get them from your SRs. I will then private message the schedule out to everyone.
It is not too early to be asking your SRs for Battlestations dates and then please let me know by private message. I would guess that there will only be 2 nights of Battlestations for this group...with so few divisions. They could actually all go in one night, but kind of doubt them will.
Diana: I think you have time to order the division tshirts/etc still. Call today!
Such a wonderful story about the 3rd grader getting a letter from her Navy SR! Don't you know that she is still floating after that one!
Good Morning, everyone!
My husband and I both got letters from my daughter yesterday (Monday) She wants me to write to her rackmate but not to over do it!?!? Who me?? lol Im already on my THIRD book of stamps! Still wanna know who's daughter is from Oregon? Thats who her rackmate is. Im a little concerned that she still hasnt passed her run yet and with the ankle sprain I am really hoping that dont set her back... I already got tickets!!
@ Dianna I dont think we will be attending Thanksgiving on the base.
I want you ladies to know that I absolutely appreciate ya'll so much! I am overwhelmed with emotions these days and just being able to talk with ya'll has made time go by much easier! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! :)
I too am gonna have to shop for warmmer clothes :) and my Red scarf!
Two weeks from TODAY, I'm landing in Chicago!!
Yea for all of you getting your red scarves! @navywife: yes, we thought we'd wear red scarves to stick out and find each other along with the special ribbons that LaLa Ribbon Queen makes. I don't think it's too late to order from her. I should be getting mine any day now.
Happy to hear letters and phone calls are coming in. Home stretch now.... I didn't get a letter from my SR today but she managed to pass on one of my student's letters to an SR who doesn't get much mail. That SR wrote directly to my school to the student whose letter got to her (the SR) - who is in absolute hog heaven getting her very own special navy recruit personal letter (the 3rd grader). Now, a lot of my little 3rd grade girls want to be a Sailor when they grow up. Too, too cute......
@Jenn: I hear you on the clothing issue. I need warm clothes for my part of the desert. It gets in the 30's at night here now. Daytime, high 50's/low 60's...but none of that compares to the cooooooooold off those Great Lakes in the winter. I figure I'll most likely be wearing a very limited wardrobe while I'm up there and all of it once to stay warm. LOL
Thanksgiving Day dinner - we need to firm up how many, etc..........C'mon gals. Speak up. Hit the discussion regarding T-day dinner I posted and let's firm all that up. My fam is a go - 5 of us. My SR wants to hit Chicago after PIR for lunch and city sites. She likes the idea of hanging at the lodge for dinner with everyone and maybe a local drive just to get out afterwards - or not. A relaxing, rest day with family appealed to her very much.
Sleep tight ya'll...........
