I too think it is neat for any who might choose to get baptized at bootcamp! What a wonderful witness for the other recruits to see. Peggy, so glad that he loved the service. My son has been stationed for 1.5 yrs, but I asked him why he never went to service during bc. Seems it had something to do with his Chief, who was not a Christian and discouraged them from going. He told them that although he was not a believer, he said the reason he didn't want them to go was because there was danger of them "fraternizing" there (with opposite sex) which is a huge no no for them. I'm sorry that my son didn't go anyway as we always attended our church down here. I think it is a nice "renewal" for the recruits with all of the stress they are dealing with there. So proud of those who take the opportunity to go!
Hope all have a wonderful Sunday!
Good Morning Navy Family :-) I just added a discussion above that you may want to take a look at. This is a questionnaire that I made and sent to my Sailor just before battle stations. It is funny, allows them to answer a lot of questions that you have and it has a very good paragraph with lots and lots of encouragement about battle stations and teamwork. You can copy and paste it and send it to your recruit. My Sailor is a girl so you may have to tweak it a little bit to work for your soon to be Sailor. I hope you like it :-) You can even send extras for them to share with their friends you can answer it and send it on to their own families and still get the benefit of the encouraging paragraph.
Now, for ribbons, most of the orders for this PIR group have been mailed and I am getting lots of messages about how much you all like them. Thanks you so much. It means the world to me to have so many wonderful responses to them. The remainder of the ribbon orders that I have now that have been paid for will be shipped tomorrow morning. If anyone else would like to order it is NOT too late. Just remember you are leaving near a holiday and this coming Friday is a holiday so I need to get all the remaining orders ASAP. Just send me a friend request or message on this site or you can send me an email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com Thank you all so much for making my ribbons a part of your very Special Day!!!
Okay 12/007 let's collectively try to win trivia tuesday and or whacky wednesday - it would be great to see our SR's!!
I have been on the road all week and have missed the communica's with everyone - we are in the race to the finish line now - yippee!!!!!
@AZKand Navywife- you just made me cry. Thank you. It is wonderful that she is being baptized at boot camp, and I hope others will want that, too.
@AZK- I will let you know as soon as she tells me when that will happen. Is it possible for your worship team to sing Lenny Kravitz "Baptized" for her on that Sunday????? She may not be at YOUR church house, but she will be in HIS house which is all the same. And she WILL FEEL your team singing....
@Diana- Im an empty nester too. It took me SO long to finally paint CBs room and bath room, which was very sad for me. Laugh- I still kept her ceiling sky blue with her clouds from childhood (along with the itty-bitty writing she and a friend made on the ceiling from the top bunk of her bed one year long ago :-). I feel you ((((HUG))))
@RKproudmom- I don't know why it took me this long to realize it,but you mentioned in a post below that your son's initials are the same as BZ (Bravo Zulu "Well Done"). After looking at 801 Wacky Wednesday pic, I figured out who BZ is!!! Right next to "barefoot-drummer-boy" (AZKmom's son :-)
Everyone have a terrific day!! Its a beautiful one here in Virginia!!!
Morning all.....thanks for the encouraging words Betsy and diannep. LIke you, diannep, just me and the critters here. My youngest son has decided to do a week with the dad and a week with me rather than the 4-5 days a week with me and 2-3 days with the dad. He is our tender foot who feels everyone should get equal time. He's 15 now so it's his call and it works better for him to land in one place at even intervals. I spent last night just cuddled by the fire with comfort tea and a couple of cats nestled on my blanket - watching movies and feeling the quiet of the house. It could be worse, I tell myself. My kids could be in trouble, or wreaking havoc at home, or hating me or........ But, they are all doing fabulously well. Daughter firmly in her own direction. Son by the ocean where his heart is and an easy 2 hour drive away to a great place to hang out. Youngest our academic star who needs no prodding (usually) and just wants his family around - divorced or not. I went to sleep counting my Blessings of having a home ("empty" or not) with lots of loving memories.... I am looking forward to reclaiming and rearranging some space for visits and now getting to make a studio space for me. Now, if I could only win the lottery for all the travel money I'll need to visit my spreading out kiddos.....!
Good stuff is happening, really, for all of us. Change is good.
Less than 3 weeks now! And, I found the perfect RED scarf online. This chica's gonna finish some online shopping and then hit the trails for a chilly desert walk. My shepherd mix "pup" (he's HUGE and barely 9 months old) is very anxious for me to grab the leash and head on out....
Happy Saturday everyone.
