diannep, I'm so glad that you are happily adjusting to having your son home. :)
Diana, ((hugs)) I am also an empty nester, so I also understand how difficult that is. We have 5 children who live in 4 different states. Our youngest son is in FL ( in Navy) middle daughter is in Hawaii (her fiance is in Navy) oldest son and also our youngest daughter are in NM (one works there and one in college because we lived there until this past May.) and oldest daughter lives in Maryland (where my husband and I just moved back to our home state).
It will get better with a bit of time.
Diana: I went through the empty next syndrome when my older son moved out just 2 weeks before my sailor left for bootcamp 2 yrs ago this month. No hubby here, so it was just me and my wonderful dogs. It was NOT easy, especially since it was right before Thanksgiving and Christmas...I love the holidays but that year was very hard. My older son lived nearby, so I occasionally saw him, but not the same as him living here. It took me a while to adjust, but then I got to where I was fine with living alone.
Then....just 21 mos later (late Aug), my older son moved back home! Condo he was renting was a short sale...4 days to get out. I have to say, I love having him 'here." I say "here," because he works very long hours (works for NASCAR speedway here and they are getting ready to host the final race of the season). He is my "gentle spirit" so it is nice when he breezes in, even if just for an hour or two before he goes to bed. I'm trying to enjoy this "moment" because I know one day, he will move out again (is trying to save for a house). Then I will have to get used to the empty nest all over again! UGH!
Good Morning, all!
I just thought of something. I have looked at the countdown clock around 9 a.m. here in the central time zone and it was off one hour. But now I realize that is because of the time change this weekend!! Duh! That countdown clock is smarter than me :)
Yea Tiffani! Happy to hear that the our Div 007 is jelling now. Like they've been saying and saying, it takes a few weeks to make the team. I've got my make up kit for my SR ready to send off tomorrow. Interesting how letters are coming throughout the week now. I got 3 this week - Monday and Wednesday - nice surprises.
Happy weekend everyone. It's cold, windy, and rainy here. Talk of snow tonight if it 'rains'. Caught me by surprise - a fire is going and I've got my hot tea. The house is way too quiet. My middle son moved out yesterday - getting set up with his buddies to begin college in January. He's always loved the beach - now he's a 5 minute drive from it.
Empty nest syndrome.....it's hit me with one big kapow.......
Getting pretty excited! Can't wait to see all the kids graduate. Got a letter from him today, guess they can send mail on Tuesday and Thursday too, this one was dated 11/1/11 and he said that everyone in his division was doing really good. He said he thought tomorrow (which would of been Wednesday) that everyone was going to pass their physical fitness test, he also said that hell week has started. Just said that it is alot of inspections. He sounds so upbeat in his letters, makes me happy.
