LOL Jo! My son said he was bored yesterday too, he did get some of his watch quals out of the way but he was texting all day long. His fiancee is so much happier now too.
Diana: Yep. And it's only gonna get crazier, with finals and my last semester of university coming up. :p With all the crap that's been thrown at me in 23 years, most of this is easy. I"m actually kinda thinking deployments will be easier on me than some others--I'm used to being by myself (mostly by choice!). Hugs back to you! :)
Jenn: Matt's the same way. Not too sure what to do with himself. He told me for the first time (ever!) yesterday that he was bored. I asked him if he wanted some of my homework to do...no luck. darnit! :p
Good morning all - back to the real world.
I've been hearing from my Sailor - his roommate has been nice about letting him borrow his cell phone. I'm shipping his off to him today along with ALOT of boxers (which is exactly what he requested). I spoke to him yesterday and he was submitting a leave chit for the holidays and had researched some flight prices - he thought they would be more than what they are so hopefully he'll get approved to come home for about 10 days. We'll see. He is rooming with a guy from 007 as well and seems to like the freedom of A school - although I think he's a little lost since he isn't being told what to do and where to be all the time. I'm sure he'll adapt quickly. I noticed he updated his Facebook page yesterday and loved being somewhere where he can use computers and play video games. He's also looking at getting his watch quals out of the way quickly.
@Macaroni - my boy gave me his address on Saturday. It's a regular address so I don't think you are missing anything. It should have a Bks letter or number - that is his barraks. ( I would like to point out that I figured that out on my own - my kid didn't have any idea - yay Navy Mom!) So you will need to have that so it gets to the right building.
ok - back to work for now to catch up on everything that I let build up while I was gone and pretty much for a week before that while I daydreamed about being gone.
Here's a cool link a friend sent me. Pretty awesome tribute during a halftime game at WVU to our Armed Forces - ALL of them.......Enjoy!
lol Tiffani. Besides, if he as a corpsman, then we know where he'd be sent to. Of course, he could end up in 29 Palms/Marine base then I would adopt him out on liberty weekends :-) We'll have to plan a mommy to Florida trip at some point. Fun! We can share a cottage/place on the beach :-)
@Diana, Aviation Boatmain Handler , well that's pretty close anyway. He is going to try to crosstrain into IT in the next two years, ABH is the only job they had available when they had to pick a job, well that and Medical and he passes out at the sight of blood, lol
Tiffani and Macaroni..your sons are at another station than my daughter is (I think so anyway. I know your son, Tiffani, is. A was shipped to yet another location after they all arrived - bummer. She liked having people she grueled through bootcamp with!). She's at Corry Station for A School. She said today this week is VERY busy and she'll have specifics as address, etc after Monday-ish.
@Jo: BIG HUGS to you.....goodness. So much going on. And yes, it does feel better having communication at least once a day. I feel all this is phasing me for when they are on ships and we'll have perhaps months of no word..... Be strong Jo - it's a character trait in all of us in the extended Navy ;-) You can do this!
@Tiffani, what does ABH stand for??
@Macaroni, my son gave me an address, it didn't have any other than he name and a street address
I'm not holding my breath thinking Matt will be home for the holidays. I know he hopes so--a particular question seems to be in the works, if you follow ;). I want him here because I am fairly certain that after Christmas we will have to put my dog down (old age, accidents are happening, usual elder dog stuff) and I know I will need him to get through it.
I miss Matt, but not nearly as much as I did during boot camp--I think having insta communication helps, even though his internet is on the fritz lately. lol.
Hi Diana! Inbox me when you receive the address. My son texted me his, but I am curious to know if something was left out by mistake, such as a building or hall number. I haven't spoke with him directly after I received the address. Thanks
