The gate passes are issued by the airlines that your sailor is flying with.

Cheryl, if you meet your sailor at Ohare....they can go with you to get the gate pass.  Betsy, doesn't the sailor have to be with them to get it?  I thought so.  But you can meet your sailor at the USO at Ohare and then go get the pass.  If meeting your sailor at Midway, your sailor will need to meet you before security since USO is past it.  That isn't a problem.

Good Monday everyone - one month down, one to go!  Found a blue candle at the store yesterday.  I was so thrilled - had been wanting one for a while now.  Off to work for now - I'm wishing all of you letters and calls today.

Ship12, You would go to the ticket desk for the airline that they are flying out on. Just tell them that you have a sailor shipping out and they should issue you a gate pass.

Where do we get the gate passes to meet our "Sailors" at the airport on Friday morning?

Good morning Ladies! Less than a month now! :-)))

 

I'm just going to stick with what I've arranged. Reading all the time driving comments, etc I realized that I live in the Southern Cal region where traffic is an everyday thing. 2 hours stuck in traffic??? Sheesh. Piece of cake! Ha!  I figured 2 hours anyway. If it's less than we'll have some chill time on the other end. Our flight leaves 6:20 on Friday, the last one out of Midway that day back to CA. It is what it is. I'll rest when I get home..........  Since I would have to bring my ex and the boys to the airport Friday anyway, should I choose to stay on, I've really not saved myself any driving time. It will all depend upon when my daughter actually flies out and which airport. I have faith all will work out. It's all good!

...and as FTLW will tell you, even these plans can change!  So most of you may want to not book your return until at least Sat. afternoon, just in case!  I doubt they will fly out on Sunday since that will be a heavy travel day for those returning from Thanksgiving.

Lala:  Looks like they have liberty on Wed/Thurs and will be flying out early on Friday.  But that is still good that they get 2 days in a row of liberty.  That normally doesn't happen for those flying out, as we well know!

Remember, ladies...you can still get airport time with your sailors on Friday so plan on it.  You can get a gate pass and wait out there with them.  So you will actually have part of a 3rd day with them.  YAH!

LOVE the countdown clock above.....but I think it is off by an hour here in the central time zone.  Very soon that first number will be a 2 instead of a 3!! Here's hoping to a great week for everyone and especially our SR's as they transition in their training to becoming part of a confident division working together toward their goal of becoming a sailor!!
