I got a very garbled message that my son was being sent home because he has a hearing loss. He went to specialist through meps because of hearing and was cleared but now bc says he has hearing loss. Not sure what is going on but I feel so bad for him. He doesn't seem able to catch a break.

my son in bc is my oldest...my other 2 boys are 11 & 4...lol..a big gap in age with them...my sr is my rock and was a very big help with the 2 younger ones.I guess i relied on him to much sometimes, but he didnt seem to mind....after he graduated school , he pratically moved out and started staying with his aunt and 2 cousins...last march the 2 cousins lost their dad, which is my husbands brother.its has been a very hard time , but with my son there they got very attached to him in a 3 months time. so when he left for bc..they all felt lost without him and even now they do. It feels good to know you have a son that you love so much can change others lives and bring joy and happiness into a home that was a lonely place. I feel so blessed to have a son like that !!

Doda - Yes, this is my first experience with the military. My daughter wrote to her sister that she misses her life and that it's sad to think she will never go back to that, but overall she sounds pretty positive. Maybe she's just putting on a happy face for me? She says she knows now that she made the right decision joining the Navy. She seems to be getting through things okay. She's darned determined and would never quit. That's both a blessing and a curse, but it will serve her well in the Navy.

ooooh that is a good one, no really bad one. And I'm sure it will be interesting for your son to explain, usually in front of his whole division. Wouldn't want that to happen to my SR. We were very specific with our son's gf about what was allowed and as it happens she is very ameanable to not doing anything that will cause him extra IT. Good luck.

labmom: I have a feeling that she got all of your letters after she wrote that one to you. Has she been up there at least 2 weeks? They hold the mail for the first 2 weeks of bc, so I have a feeling that they got the letters earlier this week.

Doda-You are right. The little things make you happy and you don't notice it until your son is gone. My son and I use to go to a particular restaurant together but I have not been able to go without him.

Deneen, I know what it is like. This is our first, although we have received 2 phone calls, his gf has gotten 3 letters so far.
