I know my daughter shipped 10/4 and I checked her bank on 10/15; no deposit. I am thinking on 11/1.

Hi bubbymom, our son happen to date each day he wrote. the last date entered was 10/10. And like your letter there where no references to the letters we have sent him. I am starting to hear some words of wisdom in his letter.

Thanks!
diannep the advise, It helps.

Bubbymomand Mark,
I think they wrote on columbus day because mine referred to it as holiday is over , I am assuming he meant a real holiday lol

JM: Not positive what RCPA is....but I'm wondering if it is a position of leadership in his recruit division? I know there is RPOC (recruit leader...recruits must obey this person)....why not ask your son in a letter exactly what his duties are? Then you can post and educate all of us! :-)

bubbymom and markC: It is still very early in boot camp for your recruits. They are actually in the very hard part right now...emotionally and physcially. That is the part between processing days and the last half of bc. It is like the "breaking down" period for the recruits, so that they can be built back up "Navy style." It is a difficult time. But...it works! My son would write or call with the same emotions....that he couldn't do anything right, that he was screamed at directly in his ear, etc. But we had talked alot before he left about this going on so he would expect it and know the reason why. He had talked with a friend who had gone through a yr before him....and my son knew what was coming...to an extent. But still...it is emotionally hard for them and then with being pretty much cut off from their family support...difficult. But like I said...there is a purpose in this, the time is short-lived, and it works. So try and concentrate on PIR...and seeing your SAILOR in full uniform. You will get emotional up and down contact from your recruit....I like to think that by the time you have received these letters, they are in a better place emotionally and moving along.
The RDCs know what they're doing, believe me! They are very proud of these sailors in the end.

Another benefit of this hard time...it makes our kids appreciate what they have had in their lives through family and friends. My son has expressed gratitude many times since bc for many things....it has blown me away. This is truly a growing-up time for all of these recruits. You will see such fine young men and women in front of you on PIR day!

Hi Mark, Same here. I was trying to get an idea of when the letters were written...he didnt date it.....looks like it was still early for our guys who left on the 10/4. I'm guessing from the ref to Sunday he wrote his last week. However the post mark was the 15th. So, guessing they held it. I'm like you mixed emotions. I filll him trying to be strong...my son speaks of being homesick and really praising us for being good parents and wishing he'd listend more to our advice...YA'LL BOOT CAMP is working. Gave some serious props to his dad..amazing how you want your kids to get in your time...but it's got to be theirs. So, all though sad, he's sounding like a very wise, mature, young man. Still through his pain giving encouragement to his sis. That makes me very PROUD!! I gotta go within to say the right words today...I dont even think when he wrote this letter he had received any of ours. There was not any reference to them. So Mark let's both hope and pray the moods are changing....they are going into their third week. It's still tough but let's hope they are misssing home a little less. Take care...we will get there. Thanks labmom I'm optimistic........it's coming!! Ya'll have a blessed day!!

What is a RCPA? Our son said he has duties on Sundays. Any help with that? Our daughter last year was the EPO, that one we know. But it sounds like they are keeping him busy.
