Bubbymom-Vincent told me he heard from you. He was shaking his head. I guess he thought since football season was over, he would get a break. I love it. Give him hell girl.
JM-soooo proud of your sailor. C school!!!!! It is so much to do before they can officially go on a ship, Will you get a chance to see him?
Labmom-I am happy your sailor will be finished. Where is she going?
Louis said that he wants to get another car since he will be in port for awhile. I don't know yet if he is coming home when he leaves GL but either way I see ROAD TRIPS in my future.
Well the broadcast was great. Louis posted a thank you to Mr. Martin. He was very proud of me and I was proud of myself. God is shifting me down a path and I can see it. It is sort of scary too.
There is a Tuesday broadcast each week (5pm-9pm CST) and this Saturday he will be playing Jazz music from 3pm-7pm CST-a special broadcast. When I gave out the website I put www in the front. Don't type that in when you go to the site.
Wanted to tell you that Louis received Top Grade in his Machnist Mate strand. He scored the highest on the test during A school. He received an MM coin and a certificate for becoming an MM. So proud or him.
I also wanted to tell you that I will be on the radio talking about my experiences as a Navy Mom. It will be this Tues-March 15 between 5pm-9pm (Central). Although the radio airs every Tues. The non-profit station is in Decatur,Illinois and it just started last month. Now how I got involved was just by the hands of God. During boot camp, I started posting videos and thoughts about Louis being in the Navy on Facebook. I had friends, FB friends, family, former classmates and coworkers sending me messages asking me how he was doing and how they were looking forward to my next report. I had so many messages and thank you's for Louis when I posted his picture after PIR. Even retired friends were sending me messages offering words of encouragement and telling me some of their experiences. I had one friend request from a person in active duty in the US Army(he was a FB friend of one of my friends).
Well one of my FB friends contacted me back in Jan and told me that he was trying to start a radio broadcast. He told me that he was touched by my love and compassion for my country, veterans and service men and women that he would like to interview me. My first thoughts were... are you kidding??? I don't know what to say!! I don't think I could do that!!! Well after praying about it and praying about it some more, I did the first interview in Jan and he played it on the radio. He played it again about two weeks ago so Louis could hear it. Louis loved it and that made me happy. Someone requested he play Navy Mom again last week. I was asked to do another interview. Louis helped me get my thoughts together and he wanted some of his achievements mentioned so I did another interview yesterday which will be aired on Tuesday. I was just as nervous this time as I was the last time. The interview was being recorded first and it was funny to know that Mr. Martin was nervous too. He had to keep recording because he could not get his words right. He wanted to give thanks to all service men/women and he kept stuttering. He really needed my services:) Ha-ha!!!
Next month there is a day for the Armed Forces (I can't remember the date) and he want to do a complete segment on this. I would love for my Navy Sisters to call him and add to the segment for next month. You have so many experiences and I know those experiences would touch others. Some who have had loved ones in the military, some who may have retired from the military, some who may have loved ones who have passed away that were in the military, some who can not leave their homes or are in living facilities. I am so blessed to have this opportunity to reach people all over the world with the hope that my experiences will bring them comfort, laughs and joy. I never say my name or Louis' name I just talk. Only he knows I am from SC. He calls me Navy Mom. My last interview was about the transition from a 'plain ole mom' to a 'Navy mom'. Trying to learn the Navy lingo and how I felt about Louis going to Japan. I even mentioned the support I have from my Navy sisters. For the people who do not have a computer, this non-profit radio station wants to give away radios ( I guess they are satellite radios) to older adults, special needs individuals, etc.
A minister in Augusta,Ga has asked me to speak at his church on Armed Forces Day as well. Now that is something different. I have to look at the people. It would appear to be an easy task since I am a Speech Language Pathologist and I LOVE to talk but a real live audience.... I don't know. You think I can imagine them naked!!!

My dad gave me this pray and I wanted to share it with you;
Prayer for This Home
'My people shall dwell in a peaceful habitation, and in sure dwellings and in quiet resting places.' Isaiah 32:8
Our God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, I turn to Thee like a wanderer in the dark, seeking a way out of the noise and confusion of my life.
For Thou knowest, dear Father, how much noise and confusion enters into our home. Yes, I realize that many of the words and deeds are not always badly meant, but they do upset our home so much, Father.
So, today, dear Lord, I want to ask Thy blessing on all who dwell under this roof. Help us to bear cheerfully together any sickness, any sorrow, any hardship.
Bless those in our home who have jobs and duties to perform dear Father. And, bless any small children within our home and those who may have left it for homes of their own. Yes, Father, bless and keep those who have left our dear home for places far away.
Thank Thee, dear Father, that even this little talk with Thee has brought Thy spirit into my heart. I know Thou wilt answer my prayer and I thank Thee-I thank Thee for such comfort, happiness and peace.-Amen
I am so happy we are keeping in touch. Just love it.
Bubbymom-I am so careful with what I wish for. I am glad he is not going to Japan that is for sure. Happy you had a good time with your son. I noticed a change in my son as well. He was more focused and he went out to see family and friends in his uniform.
Labmom-I am less than 2 hrs away from Charleston. I was there last week for a convention. The city is very beautiful. My nephew was there for a while years ago.
AndreaS-My son is tired of GL as well. He has had enough snow now and he is ready to leave.
He met with his Chief although he did not tell me. His brother, the one who can't hold water, told me. He text me to say he may be going to San Diego or Norfolk. Now the family is wishing for SD because my nephew has been stationed in Norfolk and they want to go someplace different. HECK can't they go to SD without him being there!!!
Now my tattle tale son wants him to go to Norfolk because he use to live there and will go back and get an apartment with his brother. That would mean he would be moving out of this house. LET'S GO NORFOLK!!!!!
Hi Ladies,
I feel liked I've neglected my NavyFam...just caught up on everyone. Last time I posted had my son home...guys. All though he liked being home I got the feeling things were not the same for him. He has this new life and was ready to jump into it. By day 4 he was ready to go to Californina...I guess coming home and thinking your friends would be available 24/7 didnt sit too well. They all had their lives school/jobs so he appeared bored. I took off a few days with him but I was just glad he and his sister spent sooo much time together. He even took her job hunting...My regret is that the boy can eat and my food budget went out the window!!! Anyway, it was all good. He looks wonderful and is happy now in a small desert in Cali. He called last week begging to send coats because it was cold.. 40 degrees....I was like son...you had 3 suitcases and your seabag...you didnt have not one jacket. No mom...Lord here comes the shipping expenses..But he made sure to pack that Sony Playstation 3...gotta love em. He's car shopping now and I'm so happy he actually calls for advice. But like you ladies...I get maybe a call a week. He has cable now and that's all he needs..StarChild be careful what you asked for...God heard your first request..now he's staying home. Breath and CELEBRATE!!! Maybe he will go to San Diego...he can hookup with my son. Hey Labmom, CCO727, Andrea..how's everybody??!! Who is next to receive a base and where... I must admit it does feel better knowning they are on base somewhere safe..when my son came home I was worried with him wanting to go party with friends. The streets here in NO havent been the safest. It's Mardi Gras time ladies...so the city is crazier...cant wait for another HOLIDAY OFF!! Have you guys warmed up yet..Andrea...Labmom..you cold cities. I'll send some of the FABULOUS 70's we've been having...
