Hey, so I'm just wondering how everyone's getting there, when/where they're coming in, where they're staying, all that jazz - I know it's getting close to time, but I haven't made any carved-in-stone…Continue

Yes, Tammie....we are always lurking to try and answer questions...anytime! We miss our Calif "lurker," SOBE (she should be back soon)....because she was more our middle-of-the-nighter answerer with the time difference. Jessica and I are both on Eastern Standard Time, or daylight savings....whatever it is. Lala has been great getting on the sites too and answers questions in addition to offering to make the ribbons for PIR. So hopefully there are always "veteran moms" cruising the site to catch your questions.

I agree with everyone this site is great. I know that if I have any questions I just sign on and someone can answer it. And ther's always someone feeling the same thing.

I guess it depends on their division. Your daughter is division 902 and my son is in division 005. She must have a nicer RDC, lol

diannep - my son is in division 5, ship 9. He was part of a group that flew to GL on 9/23 and their formal letter didn't go out until 10/4. I think they had to wait a bit for their division to form up.

I haven't either, earn it and he got there on 9/23. Well, maybe by the end of the week.

Kevin's mom, we are all in the same boat, oh wait actually it is the same ship. Navy speak. As far as I know as of yet no one has received a normal letter or a reward phone call from their recruit for this PIR.

I like that JM....will gladly use it. Love Eleanor Roosevelt quotes...

This is a quote I put in the letter I sent to my son today. I thought it expressed very well their experience with facing adversity.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

Ok Ladies, I have offically gone over the bend. And I honestly don't remember doing this when my first sailor was in boot camp, I wanted to make sure the letter I finally got written went out in the mail today. Told my husband to keep a look out for the mailman. Well it didn't work!!! Finished the letter, went out the door to put it on the mail clip and he had already stopped by with todays mail. Grrr!!! So, I jump in the car to scour the neighborhood in the hopes that not only did I just miss him, but that he might still be in the area. Well after looking all around and not finding him, definately wanting the letter to go out today, I drove across town to the big post office so that it would go out today istead of going out Monday. What we do for our kids, it just floors me and makes my hubby chuckle.
