srm54: Are your recruit and JM's recruit in the same division? If so, they are on the same schedule. Brother divisions are probably on the same schedule too....but other divisions would be on a different schedule with the Week 1/Day 1 method.
Comment by diannep on October 16, 2010 at 2:45pm
Whatever weekday they started "Day 1" on will always be "Day 1" of the weeks for them. i.e., say 2-1 is on a Thurs for your recruit. This means, Week 2, Day 1 of training. The next Thurs will be 3-1, Week 3, Day 1 of training. Weekends do not count as part of their training, and there is a different way to designate those days, but I can't remember! By that, I mean....using the example above...2-1 is Thurs, 2-2 is Fri, and 2-3 would be the next Monday. So the days only number up to 5 because weekends are not counted.

Yes, when we spoke to our son a week ago Friday, for security reasons, he let us know that he was now starting Week 1, Day 1. And as far as I remember from our daughter, it is a 7 day week.

thank you JM-ISmomx2 - I have been wondering about that. Is it considered a 5 or 7 day week? Also so day 1 started on Friday?
Comment by JM-ISmomx2 on October 16, 2010 at 1:17pm
Thosewho know and understand the week/ day schedules, our recruits are currently on Week 2/Day 2 of their training.

Wow, I hear these stories and can definitely see parts of my son's story in all of them. No money for college, no father child support, no job, tried several options none of them worked, needed the discipline and training the Navy could offer. I'm just so glad joining the Navy worked for him and the other's who have gone through the same thing.

AndreaS61 sounds like you and your daughter have been through a lot. I can sympathize with the child support issues. Been there, done that. Some states have no clue what it takes to raise a child. In NC Child support ends at 18 unless they are still in High school and college is very expensive. I think she made a wise decision in joining the Navy. She can get her degree while making money and traveling and still have more money for college when she is finished. Heck, where do I sign up? lol Good luck to you both.
