Kacy's mom - I did that also. I found that the package deals were generally not the hotels I wanted to stay at or the flights were not the time I wanted to go.

kacey'smom: That's what I did. But I don't know if it is cheaper. You need to ask about a discount at the hotels for PIR weekend....some offer them. You may want to search www.kayak.com for flights and hotel and see if it comes up cheaper.

so is it better to make reservations for flight and hotel seperate ?
Comment by diannep on October 14, 2010 at 12:57pm
Tammie: A suggestion on the pictures. You maybe want to scan several onto a sheet of paper (front and back). That is easier for them to store. They have such limited space for things like that, and this way, you could get lots of piks on one sheet!

My other daughter who is 16 asked me last night, "If we're spending Thanksgiving in Chicago, what are we doing for Christmas?". My response, "Thanksgiving in Chicago with Kelsey IS our Christmas. Oh, and happy birthday early!." She didn't laugh, but I did.

I reserved flight and hotel separately just to be able to confirm cancellation policies. I went with Southwest for flight because we can change the reservation without a penalty and no charge for bags. Otherwise, I had to go "refundable" which was much more expensive or take the chance that I would lose the money if my daughter doesn't graduate on schedule. Definitely worth calling airlines and hotels directly. Got reasonable prices and the assurance that we can cancel and/or change reservations if need be. Cant wait to see my daugher and HUG HER!

yes you can send a few pictures, I sent reg 4x6 prints. No one, including the RDC's and Chief, believed we had white squirrels here in NC lol. So she asked me to send her a pic. I also sent one of our whole family taken at a family reunion with a sign that said "WE MISS YOU", and a few pics of her family and friends.

My daughter left for bootcamp 9/29, she said she was filling out paperwork and they said she could make a call. It was good to hear from her. I just wanted to yell outside and tell everyone. I was surprised when she called. That definate made by day, no make that made my week. Don't forget when you make reservations look at cancelation policy. I thought the website I was on was Super 8 it looked like a offical site but it cancelation policy was differnt from when I called them.
