I talked to my daughter today.I almost cried, but stopped myself. It was so good to here her voice. She told me she had laundry duty and I said well you know how to wash clothes and she said no myself and some others wash everyones clothes (lol). She said she turned something white that was surpose to be yellow , that made me laugh she said all I could think when I saw the sergent was OH NO!! This helped me stop from cring.I didn't want to make her upset.

Hey ya'll got my official letter today!!! Yes!! He had me nervous for a while since everyone was getting theirs. He sent it to his grandfathers address to make sure we got it. Sound kinda sad...said he misses my cooking...YES N.O. cooking beats BOOTCAMP....never said I love you so much as he said in those few sentences..Gave some positive words to his sister about working hard and staying in school...totally made me cry. He knew she was a basketcase when he left...she's doing much better. She actally got the letter and called me at work...I could hear the excitment in her voice. Her big brother is ALL RIGHT!! Thank God all is well. Look forward to seeing all of you wonderful moms in CHITOWN...as my hip daughter calls it.

kaceysmom: Is your son allowed to go home with you after PIR??? They usually aren't. They are shipped (at Navy expense) directly to A School. Did he tell you that he had leave after PIR? Leave is different than liberty...liberty, they all get but must stay within 50 miles of RTC. Leave is "requested" and has to be approved.

As far as airline ticket after A School, the Navy provides a ticket from A School to their duty station. Since most get leave before reporting to duty station, they "change" it with the airlines for $30. The sailor usually is responsible for paying for part of the ticket if they fly home and then fly to duty station (this will all be explained to them at A School). My son drove home with his brother, so he only had to pay the $30 to change his ticket to fly from home to duty station.
