Labmom and StarChild - I was so thrilled to see that you are still posting updates. I haven't been on in ages.  So sorry about your dad, StarChild. I've lost both of my parents now. It's very hard! I'm so glad you got to spend time with your son.  My daughter is on Cornado (San Diego) now and really likes it. Great climate. She's an ET, studying to take the test to rank up in September. She also plans to start taking college courses in the Fall. Personally, I think she's trying to do too much at once, but what do I know, right?  I went down in May to visit her. We had a wonderful visit! I'm in Seattle, so it was just a quick trip down the coast. I hope all is well with you and your families.

Hi Labmom- so glad you still come back to visit.

As I was cleaning my sailor's room (yes it took me 2 years to get up the nerve) I came across a poem I read at his Senior/Mom dinner in 2006. Some of you may have read this one but I wanted to post. I get teary-eyed each time I read it. Here it is:

You were six months old and full of fun. With a blink of my eye, you were suddenly one.
There were so many things we were going to do, but I turned my head and you turned two.
At two you were very dependent on me but independence took over when you turned three.
Your third birthday, another year I tried to ignore but when I lit the candles-there were't three but four.
Four was the year that you really strived. Why, look at you now, you're already five.
Now, you are ready for books and for rules. This is the year that you go to school.
The big day came, you were anxious to go. We walked to the bus going oh so slow.
As you climbed aboard and waved goodbye, I felt a lump in my throat and tears stung my eyes.
Time goes so fast, it's hard to believe that just yesterday you were home here with me.
And tomorrow when the bus brings you home and you jump to the ground, you'll be wearing your cap and graduation gown.
So I'm holding to these moments as hard as I can because the next time I look I'll be seeing a man.-Author Unknown

Hello All. I hope everyone is doing fine. I know you don't visit often but I will continue to post.

Well this is the first Father's Day without my dad and I did pretty good. I woke up and wanted to call him. That is when the tears started but then my oldest son text me to tell me Happy Father's Day. He mentioned all the times I practiced basketball and softball with him. How I worked so hard to take care of him and his brother. Even when I remarried he let me know that I didn't stop working to make sure they were taken care of. Now Sisters that made me cry even more but I was so happy. My son spent the day with me watching my favorite tv shows and eating junk food. We had a wonderful time. My sailor called him and they teased me about how I used to give them 'the look' when they would act up in a store. They said they KNEW they were going to get it when they got home. HA!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day. Hope you have a great week.

My sailor is in NY for Fleet Week. He is enjoying visiting different places. He will be home in July for a while. Since I will be out of school for the summer, I will have more time to be with him.

Hope all of you are doing fine.

I want to say HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of you. You have been my rock for the past 2 years and I hope we have a chance to meet again some day. Love you all!

I published my Travel site so if you know anyone on Facebook, please tell them to go to my Travel page: facebook.com/way2gonow. I decided to publish it and do something I love to do. I book travel and give tips to those who travel. I post trivial questions and travel quotes. It is very exciting researching places and learning the history of those places. The US has such beautiful places.

JM-sorry to hear about your dad. My father passed last Sept my sailor got a chance to make it home. That roller coaster ride does not stop I am sad to say. We have to keep supporting each other. As one mom puts it: Navy Moms offer S.E.A.! Support Encouragement Advice.

Bubbymom-I think my son really enjoyed himself in New Orleans. I saw some pics of him in a bar. A bunch of sailors having a great time. So proud of all of them. Sorry you missed each other. Maybe next time because he said he is coming back but not on the ship. LOL!

Labmom-must be wonderful to see your sailor almost every weekend. Even with training starting at least you know she is close by.

I am so happy that we are keeping in touch even if it is not often. Let's keep it up!! God bless my Navy Sisters and God bless our US Navy!!

StarChild you seem to do so much better then the rest of us in keeping up to date. Rest assured that I read your posts and envy your big family meals (I grew up in a family of 11 and they are all over the US).

2011 was a big year for us. Our family had an A school grad, a C school grad, a wedding, our first grandbaby, then another wedding. 2012 doesn't look like it is going to be any calmer. My father passed away in January, and while it was nice the family was all together (my two sailors made the trip for the service), it was a hard visit, my sailor son was called by he CPO that he would deploy early and deploy for 6 months). This was difficult on his newlywed wife. So right now he has been on deployment for 2 weeks, she is struggling by herself and their 2 cats on the East coast while, family and friends are on the West coast. Our other sailor, who had our granddaughter Chloe in August will be transfering to Pensacola, FL. And our other daughter (non-military) informed us we would be grandparents again in November. Still feel like we are on that emotional rollercoaster that we talked about when they were going through boot camp. Ready to get off.  So I will ship boxes of his favorite treats, DVDs and a surprise or two and hope the next 6 months go by quickly for us and his young wife, and the move for our other sailor goes smoothly. We can only hope. All for now, thinking of all you N4m's as we miss our sailor wherever they are around the world. Take care.

Hello Everyone, Not much activity here. Hope everybody is doing fine.

Well my sailor came home last week with a shipmate. Went to the store to buy groceries. I prepared a big meal Friday night when they arrived, had a huge cookout with his friends Sat and prepared a big breakfast for the family. Then he packed up some cooked food and went back. He is not on the ship anymore so he wanted me to cook so he could just pop something in the microwave. Now I know why he bought some much groceries. Well I guess it is still good to be needed. He even brought his dirty laundry!! Gotta love em!

I told him that I was coming to VA to visit and will be staying in his place. Can't wait to leave my shoes on the floor, and my cups everywhere around the place.

He told me that he is taking the test for E5 soon. Wish him luck. He also told me that he will be telling his girlfriend (in the Fall) to start looking for a ring. Don't know if I am ready for my baby to be married but I love my future daughter-in-law.
