Thanks, nhhmmom. I appreciate that!
Bookster: I believe you meant Southwest Airlines. Yes, they charge no change fee and 2 bags check for free. We try to advise you all of that early on in Bootcamp! They fly into both Milwaukee WI (45 min drive to GL, no traffic, cheaper car rental) or Chicago Midway (hour+ to GL depending on traffic).
I bet that is what it was, Nancystj: A price change in the tickets, but thank goodness so small!
I also had to change to a much later departure ( I will not make the meet and greet at all) and was very surprised when they told me there was no charge. That is just wonderful with all the other things we are stressing over.
I already changed mine to a later departure time and they charged me $2 each (maybe price change in flight) but a bargain and well worth it!! Thank God they are so reasonable. Plus free bag each.
Total change of topic: Is everybody aware that southeast airlines does not charge you for changing your flight as long as it is the same price as your current one? That is amazing! I tried to get in a Navy facebook group and was grilled with alot of questions and then after googling I found you guys and my life has been awesome since! Keep up the great work you do here ladies because I personally was a NAVY moron and would not have survived this ordeal without all of your wisdom!
Thank you diannep for your words of wisdom. My goal was to raise awareness of the duplication of effort. I have sent Natalie a private message asking her to join us here on N4M as well so the basket project is a success for all!
Sigh, nhhmmom. This is the problem with having both FB and N4Moms groups. It would be great if info was shared so none miss any, but seems that the FB groups are not too willing to do that with us here. Very sad as it would benefit all. Sounds like many on the FB groups are not members here as well, or at least do not comment often. It would be very helpful if you could please post on the FB group that there are ladies here willing to help with the baskets, but someone from that group needs to post over here and maybe start a discussion above for the baskets to coordinate with your group. We don't want anyone to feel left out on any of these projects just because they are not on FB.
I remember a time when N4Moms was the only option for people with SRs at Bootcamp. The groups worked so well together and were very active. Now it almost seems as if there is a competition at times, and that is very sad. Your N4Moms veteran team wants to be sure that all who join here have the same access to info that others on the FB groups do. I personally am on FB, but do not join the Navy groups....some are lured into a false sense of privacy over there because they have to be "approved" to get in the group, lade dah dah....with last names exposed even. Yes, I realize that there are administrators helping there (who are actually just people like me, CatMom, FTLW, ellen....they are not "official!") who try and make it more safe but there is only so much they can do. "Loose cannons" there can still cause lots of problems for the SRs---just like here...and by the way, the Navy HAS closed down FB groups in the past that were not respecting OPSEC....just saying. I really don't care how much the administrators try and keep things confidential over on FB----approving those who get in, etc, there are RDCs that manage to get into these groups. It is unavoidable, just as it is on here. They can have a friend pose as someone with a SR, etc. There is no way to get an official list of SRs at Bootcamp so all must just go on info received. No, your FB or N4Moms administrators are NOT privy to SR lists, nor is anyone else outside of the Navy. Just want to be clear on that.
Having said that, all I'm saying is be careful with the privacy you think you have over there! It may not be what you think it is! Post with caution, both there and here! Not too personal and specific, especially when revealing content that your SR shared in a phone call or letter (like feelings about others, etc, that may be negative).
And.....please.....don't leave these ladies here out. If you are members of both groups, please share the FB info here with us and take our info and share with them! Thanks!
It would be best to have a discussion on here too about the baskets. Not all of the ladies here are on FB. So....if anyone wants to start the discussion above, please feel free to do that!
Good morning. There is also a Natalie on the RTC Facebook Page who is coordinating a basket raffle for the 11/25 Meet and Greet. She is also providing that info to Sarge. Just wanted to let you know as I have already committed to her list and others may have as well.
texaspride,
