Marissadolphin:  PIR is from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  There are no actual tickets for PIR....they go by the names your SR puts on the guest list---which your SR/sailor will update about a week before PIR.  The sailors will be released shortly after PIR is over, and your extras will be able to see them then.

For those moving over to GL A School, they will be moved over there as a group shortly after PIR is over, takes a few hours, and then you will be able to pick up the sailors from there to reunite with your family members/friends.

It can happen and DID happen to a friend of mine's son.  He was to leave RTC after most of his buddies had already flown out...I believe he was the only left that night in the ship.  He overslept and was forgotten, apparently....and missed his flight to A School.  He was scared to death of what would happen when he got to A School.  Thankfully, it was ok....he really should have still been under the RDCs authority since still on RTC so someone there should have made sure he was up and gone.  It wasn't like he left the airport and missed his flight.

I agree with ellen....not worth taking a chance on leaving the airport when waiting for flights!  Anything can happen and it does!

Nick's Mom, Ok here's the thing about leaving the airport when waiting for a flight. :)

Since the Sailors are not on liberty when at the airport they are not supposed to leave. The problem with leaving (even though they technically can) is, even the best laid plans can go wrong!

If for some unforeseen reason they don't make it back for their flight, it does and has happened, the consequences for missing a flight can be grand.  My recommendation DON'T DO IT!

Thanks, just wanted to know all my options, don't want to get him in any trouble!

I have a question that maybe some veteran moms can answer. From what I understand the SR's will all be dropped off at the airport all at once but will have various flight departure times, are they allowed to leave the airport. Let's say they are dropped off at 3 am but flight time is not until the afternoon, am I able to pick him up and bring him back in time for his flight or is he required to stay at the airport all day???
