For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I have been in Great Lakes since Thanksgiving so I have gotten to know the area somewhat. I did a dry run today. I took the address for RTC that is on the RTC website. This brought me to the RTC gate right on Buckley (Illinois St.) This is the same gate that I used for Thanksgiving day pickup. But when I looked ahead, there was a sign that said Graduation - around the corner.well, around the corner is Gate 8, across the street from the Metra Station. Which is the correct gate?

Comment by Jennifer on November 28, 2012 at 3:25pm: Awwww no letter from my SO! He said he was writing one last time, boooooo! Oh well :) I see him in two days, so it doesn't matter to me!! I was kind of hoping to know which he was ET or FC, because as of Thanksgiving he still didn't know. Guess I can find out Friday!! Or possibly with the Sailor call :) I'm so exciting everyone!! I cannot wait to get my butt in the car and start driving to GL. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight.

I sure would hate for you to have to kick his navy butt! HAAAA! I'm thinking that seeing his family at PIR is just what the dr ordered anyway!

Comment by countrymom on November 28, 2012 at 9:30am: BS done, he called but did not get to me. I know he is sick cause of his GF. If it was before I would understand too, but its done, he should go. I may have to kick his navy butt friday if he hasnt been.

Comment by diannep on November 28, 2012 at 9:22am: The RDCs keep a very good eye on them. If they are really really really sick, they will go to Medical. Anything less than that, it is up to the SR to go or not. Has your SR been through BattleStations yet? If not, then I can understand where he is holding off. He is almost THERE and he doesn't want anything to stop him!

Prayers that it isn't Strep and that he is feeling better soon!
