For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My "Sailor" called home and talked to his brother first and then called me on my cell. I got all of 4 minutes before he had to hang up and I didn't ask any of the pertinent questions I was supposed to ask. Sorry.

Have you seen any of the local news coverage about our good friend, Brett, the sailor shot there on Oct 17th trying to prevent a mugging? I was wondering if they are still keeping it in the news. There were several tv interviews about it with his family members, and something in the paper as well. Just a couple of days ago, a huge bunch of sailors showed up at his house and put up all of their outside Christmas decorations---wow---....Brett is still in the hospital, but finally in a regular room. The prayer is that he will head to the wonderful HUGE Navy Rehab center in Tampa this weekend if he is well enough. He is very anxious to get to this next step....his fighting spirit is still there, even though his body is still very tired and compromised.

Just wondering if you had heard anything about it there. Brett Parks is his name.
