Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Treymom321 on October 14, 2012 at 9:51am: Proudmama, My SR is Ship 04 Div 801 and I have not received anything since the box and form letter that both arrived same day. I do not expect a call for at least another week or maybe 2....the "I'm here" call said he would call again in 3 weeks.....not sure if that counts P-week so am trying to think week three of training so 2 more weeks to go. I don't expect my SR to do too much writing....again trying to keep my expectations low so not disappointed. I am trying to be the Queen of "No news is good news".

Comment by Knittycat10 on October 14, 2012 at 9:07am: Yea, Bellamom, I asked his recruiter about 4 days after he had left, I can stand not getting letters for now, but I just didn't want to picture him going a mail call without getting atleast something. Hopefully his form letter comes in on Monday, because I get very anxious every time I mail out a letter, knowing that it could be the wrong address, and it could take way longer to get to him.

To everyone who has only gotten the box and no letter - let's cross our fingers really hard all day, hopefully tomorrows the day!
