WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Yah sierra!  Glad you saved money on the fare too.  Sometimes the ladies have reported that Southwest can be a bit pricier, depending on where they are flying from.  However, with the luggage (2) checked for free and the possibility of a changed flight (no change fee), that can quickly bring the price down in my eyes!  Sure wish I had known about it when I went to my son's....because I did have to change my flights (he was asmoed) but unfortunately didn't book with Southwest because didn't know about it then.  :-(  Two tickets, two change fees...   $$$ !  Only saving grace was that the new flights were a little cheaper, so the change fee seemed like only $89/per ticket rather than the $150/per ticket.

Jashalyn:  It would be better not to have the address posted on FB.  Better to post that you have the address if anyone wants to write to him and let them private message you for it.  Remember, these are still "public" sites....more public than we think sometimes!  So I would take that extra precaution!

So sorry I dont remember who shared the info about Southwest, but a Big Thank You. got my flights booked.  What a hugh savings.

Sailorsbaby94 my son is also in Ship 02, Div 802.

Jashalyn when my other son was in BC we were told not to post address on facebook, but I am not sure if it was an overall rule or something to do with the 800 divisions.

Jashalyn Im not sure either but my daughters recruiter posted her address on her facebook page so now Im condense too. I wouldn't want her to get in trouble but Im sure if her recruiter did it I would think he would know this and Not post to get her in trouble? I hope the veteran moms can weigh in?

I have a question:

Is it alright to post your kids address on facebook while they are in boot camp? I have had 2 people tell me that I could get my stepson in trouble if I did (a friend whose son is in the army and a niece whose husband is in the Marines). Anybody know anything about this?
