For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on October 10, 2012 at 7:52pm: cannec: It is possible that your SR's recruiter can give you his division number. They look it up on the computer. Just remember that sometimes, that changes....so be sure to compare the form letter info with the recruiter info....form letter info (if different) is correct.

900 divisions are the "performing" divisions during bootcamp...drill team, band, choir, and also supporting staff at PIRs who assist with the VIPS, etc. However, their jobs once out of bootcamp are all different.

Comment by diannep on October 10, 2012 at 7:47pm: Debbie, division numbers signify their training group...each division trains with another division (brother division), except for the 800 or 900 division, which usually doesn't have a brother division (unless there are two 800s or two 900s in the PIR group....which is rare).

Each training group is composed of SRs going to different future Navy jobs....in other words, one division doesn't contain SRs who will all be doing the same job when school is completed. There are many jobs.

The ships are their barracks. Within a ship, there are many divisions.

He left on 10/1 and I got the box on 10/5. How did everyone here already find out Div.#'s if they all left around the same time? I'm stressing big time.

Okay they are dogs... but they do sense mailman motion.
