I am not a very anxious person either, BUT I want that letter!!! lol I did call the recruiter today and he is going to get back with me. Hopefully he will be able to give me his division number. I may have to change groups, but I'm guessing this will be his PIR date. My son left on Oct. 1st and I received the box on Oct. 4th.
Good morning everyone, I will be away most of the day. I have to take our college girl back to Charlotte to meet her roommate and head back to UNCW. I hope you all have a wonderful day.
My Son left 10/1/12, we received the phone call (I am here safe talk to you in a couple of weeks) on 10/3/12. His box arrived on 10/5/12, no letter in it. Hope to get his form letter this week, as some of you already have received them.
When will they start getting mail? I don't think the recruiter has the right address for my SR, it said division R2013. Better wait to send phone cards until I have the correct address.
michie: HA! Don't think he will be writing graduation thank you notes during bootcamp....hmmmm.... But if he can manage to do that, more power to him! :-)
Trevmom: So sad about that SR. I don't believe they do constant medical testing throughout bootcamp, unless as you said, there was a medical issue. Maybe this SR had a cough, congestion, etc...and so they did an xray. Most of the SRs will not go to Medical unless they absolutely have to because they don't want to risk being "setback." But this SR may have really been struggling with an illness that prompted the xray.
Blessings to this SR and his family.
By the way, my son met a 21 yr old recently who has dreamt his whole life of being in the army. He had leukemia as a child, but was cured and healthy growing up. He needs a waiver for that, but has not been able to get accepted into the Army because of the leukemia (he was told they aren't accepting waivers now because most all branches are overmanned at the moment). My son felt so very sad for this guy who even sported the military haircut, so hoping to get in.
Each of you should be so very proud that your SR was accepted in the Navy....because there are so many that cannot get in...mainly because the horrible economy has given the military services more "candidates" than they have ever had before. They have passed the test and are on their way to becoming sailors! HOOYAH!
Veteran moms,
I looked at the facebook page mentioned below and saw a message from a mom whose son was medically discharged at week 7 for finding a spot on his lungs. Do they do medical testing throughout boot camp? Or is it more likely that he got sick and went to medical? Just curious. As far as I know my SR is healthy as a horse, but now I have added one more worry. Any info on medical testing after P days? Thanks.
Thanks FTLW, now I wonder if I gyped myself of a phone call by making sure he had certain addresses and numbers in his wallet. Oh well. A gal can only do what she can do.
OK group... my son didn't finish his graduation thank you's before he left...do you think he'll have time to finish them if I send him one at a time. ;) -I don't think he'd be excited about "that" kind of mail. I guess it was just a thought..
Welcome Kim! Yes, I agree with ellen. They stopped the Tues Trivia a while back. It was sure fun for the ladies though!
Welcome cannec and JackFlash! We like your name, so you are guaranteed not to be voted off the island! :-)
michie - My son asked for Name, Address and Phone Number of two more people.
