Anybody have any info on transportation around the area without renting a car? Or am I going to need to just break down and rent the car? If anyone has a Div 801 sailor and is not able to make PIR get me thier info, barring a massive emergency or airport issues, I intend to be there. Already decided his little sister will be skipping it due to cost and lack of time, but I will be there for sure. Will be happy to get any pictures I can.

Good evening everyone, so sorry I have been MIA so much this weekend. This is fall break for our daughter that is in college. So she is home this weekend and it is the first time we have seen her since dropping her off at UNCW in August. It is good having her home. Not sure how she likes her room now that I turned half of it into a craft room lol :-) At least she still has a bed hehe. She definitely likes being able to find all the craft stuff so easily. Tomorrow we are making decorations for her dorm room door halloween decoration contest. How could she loose with me to help her? lol

We also heard from our Sailor again, she is doing well, working 7 days a week but they did get to watch the GA/SC game last night although she was not happy with the outcome. I sent her a candygram on her ship :-) I can't wait until she gets it, she has no idea :-D

So sorry you will miss PIR, but understand.  In that case, for SURE get the PIR DVD so you can see some of the ceremony.  It is mailed about 3-4 weeks after PIR.

Thank you Dianne for the info. Circumstances and finances have me unable to attend my daughters PIR this coming Nov. So I am interested and concerned about pictures and any memorabilia I can get to preserve this special day for our family and my recruit. She tends to put things off and I don't want her missing out on this because she waited to long to order or not at all.

Welcome to the new members of this group!  So glad that you found it!  Ask any and all questions that you have....we N4Moms veterans will do our best to try and answer them.

Bugsmama:  On the pictures.....your SR will be able to order them.  If she pays for them, she can pay to have them mailed to you...or....give them to you after PIR.  If she doesn't pay for them, then you pick them up in the NEX (Navy Exchange on base) after PIR--you pay for them there.  You can also order more at that time if you want.  Just to let you know, some have found these piks to be too expensive.  Instead they have scheduled a photo session in the area for their new sailor on PIR Day and ordered pictures there.  Just an alternative for some of you!

The most popular picture pkg is Pkg A. This is because it includes The Keel (yearbook) for free if your SR orders it (not if you do).  There is also a PIR DVD that we recommend you all order...used to be $29 but someone told me it is now $39.

If you want to talk to the Photo Lab for more info, here is the number:

Thanks Ellen- I understand that things can change and this may not be her official address per se, but just having a physical address makes me and feel a little more at ease. Lol!_
I still am waiting on the formal letter to arrive. Have written to the address I was given by recruiter knowing she will not get them sooner. She will get them eventually so I write on! Her recruiter also posted this address to her FB page so I will correct it if it is not the same as on formal letter, when it arrives.
again, thanks for information!

Remember the address you get from the recruiter is not always correct. Sometimes they give you a "generic" address for them and others times your SR may have changed ships.

If you are wanting to write them we recommend you get the form letter with the division and address before sending letters out. Also, sending them before you get the form letter does not mean they will get them earlier.

All divisions must train a recruit to handle the mail and this process can take up to two weeks or more. Any mail that is sent prior to that recruit being trained is held until first mail call. The first mail call is generally the second Sunday after they have moved into their ship for training or approx their third Sunday there.

After that first mail call they should receive mail on a regular basis Mon-Fri. There can be reasons that they may not receive mail regularly, but that is not the norm and it depends on the RDC in charge of their division.

@Sapphirestone- call his recruiter. He should know after a few days once your son is at GL. It takes a few days to process and get your son into the system but the recruiter will have access to this info sooner than us parents get that formal letter.

Hi All,
My name is Linda from Central Cal. My daughter is scheduled to grad 11/30.
She's on ship 02/div. 903. Haven't received formal letter yet but received my box. Amber left Oct. 1. She will be an MA and will have A school @Lackland. Anyone know anything about picture packages? Are recruits able to have photos mailed home?
This is such an exciting and anxious time for us, I wish you all well and successful tours for our sons/daughters!

Sapphirestone, I used to go with him to his recruiter to fill out the paper work, so I know him well. Before My boyfriend left he gave me his recruiters number, and I asked him today if he knew, and he sent it to me. I've heard that a lot of recruiters dont have the address right away, but I mustve gotten lucky.
