It has been brought to my attention that is we have military id, that on PIR day we can get in a different line when going thru the gate to avoid the crowds. Is this correct?
Also now that the access rules have changed, my husband who is active military & our 5yr old son won't be able to get in PIR. Can my husband drop us off at PIR go back to the Gateway, then be allowed back in the gate to pick all of us back up? Or does he & our 5yr old have to just hang out at the vistors center until it's over?
Ladies in the 800 divisions. Any date given for BattleStations for you yet? I think I have all of the dates for the other divisions. Have two different nights the 800's could go. Please private message me, or send info in a friend request if you have dates for the 800s. Thanks.
Train weekend passes are cheap into Chicago, train station is right next to RTC...and your sailor gets a discount! So consider doing that if you don't want to drive.
Thank you Lala!
Thank you Diannep. I was just curious because I will be staying there alone for part of his liberty, and was hoping he'd still be able to spend time with me. Good to see he will.
morningglory, the Sailors are allowed to go to Chicago unless the rules are different for Thanksgiving. Normally they have a 50 mile radius rule.
TMM, your hotel doesn't have a shuttle but you could call Sarge and arrange a cab ride there if you like or drive your own car. Many drive and say it was fine and many say the same about the shuttle. We stayed at the Navy Lodge and drove ourselves and it worked great for us. When you get on the base you will see right away where the line is to get into the building to check in. The line moves pretty quickly.
This has probably been posted somewhere so maybe someone can direct me to the right place, but if not could someone give me a play by play of what to expect when we get to RTC. We are staying at the Navy Lodge and we are planning to drive to RTC. For example once we park where do we go to get in line and at what point in the process do they check the list and ID? Also, is it best to drive our own car or is there another form of transportation that we should consider for getting to graduation and back? Thanks so much!
I have a question, I have read a lot of comments abut what to do on our SR PIR day, but no one has mentioned anything about going into Chicago. I am going to get my girl and another recruit for Thanksgiving and was wanting to take them to the parade in Chicago. I googled it from base and it is roughly 35 miles. Like I said, I haven't read anywhere about anyone going on into Chicago, am I missing something? Are they not allowed to?
Good Morning Everyone!
JackFlash: Today was Captains Cup for the 11/21 group. Yours should be next weekend.
knittycat: Is this from RTC or do you have a sailor moving over to GL A School base right after PIR? It is possible for a sailor to join yours and your family for liberty after PIR on RTC. But I'm not sure of the rules if they have moved over to GL A School base as far as taking other sailors with you. Those staying at GL A School base will move over there shortly after PIR is over....takes several hours, then you can pick them up for liberty for the rest of the day (unless they have watch).
The sailors can also leave base for liberty on "the buddy system" --- they must return with the same buddy(s).
