Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

You do that by clicking on their photo icon, going to their page, and click on "add a friend" or "send a message." Once the person accepts your friend request, their photo icon will appear in your friend box. Then you can private message them. Welcome to the group!

Ladies, we are not supposed to post BattleStations dates on this site or on FB. We can private message them though. I ask that you all let me know too by private message since I try and keep a schedule of all of them. Thanks!

Comment by diannep on November 16, 2012 at 11:47pm: TMM: Thanks for reminding the ladies that the RDCs can and do read these posts many times. Some ladies "flee" to FB thinking it is safer there. The answer is....not really. Anyone can join there as well. Social media is social media.

As long as everyone remembers that this site was created by the Navy as support for families with SRs/sailors, all should be fine. Do not share intimate details of letters/phone calls from your SRs, no last names (we recommend you not even use your SR's first name)....not sure your SRs would want you to share those specific details anyway???? So, any questions you have about training, drills, PIR, A School, etc.....all fine on here. We don't want anyone to get scared and leave. It really is not a problem!

Yes, TSP is the Thrift Savings Plan (retirement) that they can sign up for.
