For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

If you are flying and won't be able to answer you can change your voice mail to say you are flying and can't answer and if this is _______ Please leave a message and tell us if you are a Sailor. We are so proud of you. You can call grandma/bro/sis etc at ### #### and our plane lands at_______ am/pm please call back then if you can and please leave a message now. It won't be the same as getting to talk to them but at least you will hear the excitement in their voice :)

Comment by ChiefDad on November 5, 2012 at 10:59pm: Would they hold Battlestations as late as 11/28 for the last divisions? That would give us less than 24 hours from the "I'm a Sailor" call to PIR. In fact we would miss the call because we'll be flying. Would be hard to change plans after arriving if need be.

Comment by diannep on November 5, 2012 at 9:58pm: Michelle: PIR should stay the 30th. Don't know what they are telling these SRs up there. We have never seen a PIR date change ... other than mistakes in the date on the form letter that are quickly corrected (happened in the Nov 21st group).

Comment by Eryn on November 5, 2012 at 9:42pm: On Thursday the 1st Division 021 did Marlinspike. On Halloween everyone got a cookie at chow. He wanted to know what's up with the 'Hurricane thingy' and he is not so happy that he won't have as much money coming out of boot camp as the thought he would because the uniforms were so expensive. He also said that he likes his friends that he hangs out with and joking around keeps everyone upbeat even though they're not allowed to do that.
