Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Bears Nana on November 5, 2012 at 12:59pm: I turned in the adopt a sailor form and even though we are on the west coast we are going back for a quick trip to see our SR and he is bringing a friend from 802. We are taking all the cell phones charged up and letting them both make all the calls they want.
We have lots of rollover minutes. I feel blessed we are able to do this. I had miles enough to get a free airline ticket. Have not had a phone call in almost 2 weeks but did get a letter.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on November 5, 2012 at 11:05am: The senior divisions that are close to PIR dates will be the ones who get adopted by different organizations and many of the people there will let them use their cellphones to make calls to family so keep your phone handy that day. They may not all get to call but many of them and hopefully most of them will get to call. It will be great to be all your family and put him on speaker phone if he gets to call. I have my fingers crossed for all of you :)

Although I do look for Christmas gift bargains all year long and already have a few gifts hidden in the closet lol.

There are houses here already decorated and lights on for Christmas. My niece already put her tree up lol. There was a time when Christmas came after Thanksgiving, and Thanksgiving came after Halloween but no more, Christmas begins right after Labor Day it seems.
