OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Jennifer / Lala -  I laughed about the laundry duty too !  Looks like it is payback time !  I thought it was a pain to do laundry for a family of 4, now they are doing it for 90+ !!

so far my son says he doesn't have a job. of course with the letters they way they are that could be old information...

Do they try to make sure everyone does something at one time or another?

Haha.. bf is in his late 20's.. about time he does laundry and not just for himself, but for EVERYONE. hahaha. I'm loving it :) Maybe I can convince him to do mine when we live together again :) (Yeah, right).

Michelle, when I read your post it brought tears to my eyes. I know how much it meant to you for your daughter to get that special birthday wish. I am so happy for you and you are so right, God does answer prayers and does it in amazing ways :-)

It is very cool to see moms connecting when they have recruits who are friends. That is awesome and doesn't happen a lot. Jennifer I hope you can find those you are looking for as well. It sounds like a lot of young men are learning to do laundry lol.

My bf is in ship 13 div 027 and he does laundry duty =) I was hoping to find others who are in the same division with the same duty, because he has spoken highly of the two others that work with him. So far I have yet to find anyone, bummer!!

Hello Lavenderlady!   Leave it to my son Grant, the boy who has never done a load of laundry in his life, to be on the laundry crew !!  He has spoken very highly of your son.  I am glad they are finding good friends to help them get through this !

Michelle - That is awesome !! What a special memory .  My son Grant (Div 29) was able to call home last night too!  It was a wonderful surprise.

bluesarasota - Let me explain what "Fill a billet" means.

A billet is a position.  In the Navy, a billet (position) must be available.  You can't just go put a person in some spot. They have to have an official place & need for them.  Example, lets say you are a Electronic Technician that works on 85 foot radar antenna's.  Well, they don't have billets for these types of guys on ships because you can't put a 85 foot antenna on 99% of the ships.  They can only go to shore commands. That is where their billets are, you will never find a billet for them on a ship (except one).  This prevents your buddy, who might be the detailer, from hooking you up with great duty.  You have to have an official requirement and need for that person.

So your son will "fill a billet" AFTER graduation on the main side base in Great Lakes.  They will fill a billet that is currently unmanned and have him do that work.  He will more than likely be clean something.  The Navy loves stuff that's clean.  He will probably fill a cleaning billet while waiting for school to start.

Make sense?
