For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on November 3, 2012 at 6:43am: Good morning everyone, sorry I have been MIA for a couple days. i was subbing, Thursday was 5th grade and supposed to be the same on Friday and we were going on a field trip but I got moved to 3rd grade so no field trip for me lol. I felt like I forgot my permission slip lol. So busy busy evenings and family here this weekend. I had lots to get done. Now I am working on a Tee-shirt quilt got my Sailor :-) and i have to have it finished and in the mail by Monday YIKES. I hope you all are doing well and have a wonderful weekend. I bet you all are glad it is finally November since your PIR is in Nov :)

Comment by ellen0502 on November 3, 2012 at 1:25am: Phone calls usually start at approx 2pm GL time. After the capping ceremony they go back to their ships to do some things and then they head to the NEX, Ricky Heaven and call.

By the time you get the call in the afternoon, they are usually extremely tired, high on adrenaline, energy drinks and candy.

Comment by ellen0502 on November 3, 2012 at 1:07am: Battlestations is an overnight drill that begins in the evening at about 8pm and ends the following morning. In the morning after battlestations is the "capping" ceremony.

Comment by Eryn on November 2, 2012 at 11:45pm: I got my letter Wednesday that my boyfriend wrote Sunday (10/28). Today I got a letter he wrote Thursday (10/25) night and I think it went out that Friday. But that one was folded weird and not flat so I think it took longer to get to me because of that.. well I don't really know but that's my guess. Lol.

My boyfriend wrote the week-day that they were on on Thurday 10/25 but I can't read it!!!
