WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

lol

Okay.... Maybe a little too breezy for November 30th in the windy city.... and I couldn't find a purse to match my shoes anyway.

Now that is hilarious JackFlash!

My son would not invite me to anything else if I did that!

I noticed that some folks were asking what to wear for PIR... so I thought I'd share what I was thinking.

Amanda, even if he had more than a few minutes he may have only been allowed one call. I'm not completely sure, but I think sometimes they can only call one person.

Michelle, just be respectful and nice to her anyway, but you shouldn't feel bad. I would have been upset and hurt if my boyfriend didn't call me! His family and I all knew he would call me. (I missed the call though and he talked to his dad) I was even talking to his mom about how they will get three (somewhat) scheduled calls while they were there and she said well we know who's getting three calls then! His mom wasn't hurt by that because she understands her place is different than it was when he was a child. Sometimes I can sense that she gets jealous that I get more attention than her, but it's never a big deal. She really likes me though and I text her almost every day since he's been gone.

Ooops!  Forgot about the 4 division group FTLW!

hi Michelle she shouldn't take it out on you anyway. especially if you were nice enough to call and share right away

My son chose to call his girlfriend and even though i expected that I had asked him that if he got more than a few minutes would he call me too. So I was disappointed that he didn't .

She shared a little of what he said with me but only after i asked a few questions.

It is hard as a mom though to pull back and take second place. At least he is writing.

Try to give your MIL some grace some have a harder time letting go than others

Don't feel bad.. Honestly. Like I said, I know she was hurt, but it's no excuse. Some mother in laws never change and will constantly act like they're competition for their son's love. Just keep being sweet and don't engage in foolish behavior with her and you will come out ahead every time. xoxoxox

We're completely married :) We got married this April so I'm still new to the whole "mother-in-law" thing. While he was here we were living in between both of our places. I hope she'll start taking it a little easier on me, ever since he left she's been different with me, she even went as far as questioning the way that I raise my daughter. I understand that she's emotional right now with her son being gone but I just wish that she could understand that this is not easy on me either. I've been with him for four years already and its killing me not having him here.
