OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I am not saying it's right by any means... I'm just thinking of her rationale... and one more question... Are you guys actually married or still planning to get married? Michelle, regardless of anything, she shouldn't take anything out of you. Just know she's just hurt.

Comment by Michelle on November 1, 2012 at 4:07pm

Kim, I can understand the feeling hurt part I just feel bad that she's taking it out on me. I did write to him last night and told him to write to his mom to try to make her feel a little better. Before he left to bootcamp he was still living at his moms house, we're both 22 so we haven't settled down in our own place yet, me and my daughter will be moving out in January to be with him if all goes well.

Michelle- mad: no.  Hurt: yes. It would be expected though if my son was married. Just remember- anger is a 2nd hand emotion. We feel anger because we are feeling something else. I bet she's just really hurt. I am just confused on why you wrote that he "didn't call HIS house." Does he live with his Mom?

800's start with 801 at the beginning of the Fiscal Year and continue on consecutively when they have them. They do not have an 800 Division every PIR. 800 Divisions are for those with SPECOP (SPECial OPerations) contracts. If there is more than one then they will be Brother Divisions.

900's start with 901 at the beginning of the Fiscal Year and continue consecutively each TG/PIR (Training Group/Pass-in-Review=Graduation).900's are the "performance" division.

There are 3 types of 900 divisions. There are the Band/Bluejacket Choir/Drill team, otherwise known as Triple Threat (the musicians, singers, and drill team), the Sticks (those who carry the state flags), and the Ship Staff/Honor Guard (the body snatchers, those who guard various things...). Three 900 divisions perform their duties at each PIR, the 900 division(s) from that TG and if needed one to three 900 divisions from the next one or two TG's. Each 900 Division performs in their own PIR and in the PIR for one or two TGs ahead of their own. They may also have performances in the community--that happens mainly for the Triple Threat though. I believe that Division 949 is a Triple Threat Division.

Triple Threat is comprised of those who are on that weeks' Jr. Rifle Drill team and all those who were chosen for their musical abilities. The Blue Jacket Choir performs the National Anthem, Anchors Aweigh, and anything else they've been tasked with. The band plays at various times throughout the ceremony. The Drum Corps also marches and helps everyone else stay in step and keep time.

There is almost always a 900 Division every PIR. Last year they did not have one for the April 1, 2011 PIR. (Was that an April Fools?!) Sometimes there can be two or even three if RTC skips a week of PIR. One of them will reflect the TG number. If there is more than one then they will be Brother Divisions.

Ok so I have a question for all the Navy Moms, I would love to get your opinions. Would you be upset if your son chose to use his phone call to call his wife and daughter? My mother in law is really upset and is sort of taking it out on me because her son called me instead of his house. I called her right after I spoke with him to let her know how he was doing and she barely said one word to me during the entire conversation. I was SOOOO happy to be able to hear his voice but now she's making me feel horrible.

Can someone help me with what the 800 and 900 Div series mean? They seem to be significant.
Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on November 1, 2012 at 3:23pm

diannep - We had a 4 Div TG last year, 'member! It was the Thanksgiving one...2 regular divisions, 1 SPECOP, 1 900...and a partridge in a pear tree.

...can't help it...getting all bunged up about Christmas!

lol.. yay for being the largest. Nothing like surrounding yourself with a bunch of over emotional girlfriends/wives/moms/dad/etc. :)

Thanks, Craig.  I knew that POA normally stands for Power of Attorney, but wondered if "your" POA was some Navy term!

I will look forward to your reply.  Thanks!

Congrats to this PIR group.  You are now officially the LARGEST PIR group ...at least, since I have been on here (late 2009).  The largest before this was 14 divisions.  It will be one packed...and exciting...PIR hall for you all!  The smallest that I have seen since being on here is 5 divisions (once). I think they had 6 divisions once too, but normally the smallest is 7 divisions.
