For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Eryn on October 31, 2012 at 4:05pm: So you know how if the recruiter does some paperwork before a SR leaves and the SR passes the first PFA and the first written test he/she can automatically advance to E-2?

Well my boyfriend's recruiter did all the stuff with him before he left and he passed both of those. So I am assuming he becomes an E-2 when he graduates? I've seen people talk about getting back pay for boot camp for those who are already E-2 or E-3, will my boyfriend get back pay for bc too?

Comment by Eryn on October 31, 2012 at 3:29pm: I got a letter today and my boyfriend said not to send more than one letter a day because then it takes him longer to write back.. lol!!! I have only been sending one a day though, he just got a bunch of them at one time.

Also I got two last names of people in his division (021).

And he went on and on about being excited to see me and his father for Thanksgiving... he will be sad when he gets my letter telling him that his dad has to work so we can't go ):
