For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I understand that when Brett intervened, trying to get the mugger to stop, he didn't realize he had a gun (I believe he told a first responder this before losing consciousness). He had a powder burn on his finger, so they don't know if he tried to grab the gun...or...if the bullet actually grazed his finger before going into his abdomen (with a powder burn, he obviously was close range with the gun). He doesn't remember right now what happened. His wife asked him this morning if he knew why he was in the hospital, and he shook his head NO. He was told by the drs a couple of days ago, but with all he has been through and meds he is on, his short-term memory is must likely affected right now.

They have a very limited number of the DIV shirts for sale at PIR. IT is our understanding that they only have them if a recruit ordered them and then was set back or sent home and did not pick them up.

Diannep, it is amazing what Brett has gone through, he has so much to live for and he is such a fighter. Was the lady who was mugged hurt at all? I bet she is also praying for Brett as much if not more than all of us are :)
