WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

wrwmom - Is your SR attending A school in Great Lakes?
If so, then what he may mean by "leaving" is going over to TSC (Training Support Center) GL. Those new Sailors.attending A school at GL spend a short time with you after PIR, then go back to their barracks, collect their things, board a bus and go up the street to TSC GL. The will INDOC and automatically be on Phase 1 Liberty. INDOC will take 3-5 hours. Then you can pick them up and send the rest of PIR day with them.
I will be posting a new PAGE with more details in it. ellen0502 will post something as you get closer to PIR with even mote details as her Sailor attended A school there. ;-)

Briefly, for those flying out for their A school...no, like LaLa said we do not see them leave on PIR day. (LaLa, was one of my PIR veterans :+) ) Again, the PAGE I will add will have info for that as well.

Lots and lots of prayers also for all those affected by this terrible storm. So many lives lost, home and businesses that need to be rebuilt and so much clean up. All of them will need our help so please remember to give when you see collection boxes in your areas. We will for sure be getting stuff ready to send.

They haven't had any leave on PIR day in a long time. I can't remember any leaving on PIR day since I have been on this site and that is two and a half years.

FTLW have youever heard of SR leaving on Friday for A school....

My SR is on Ship 13, Div 028 & we got a phone call! It was particularly wonderful as everybody was home to speak to him & that does not happen on a normal day! He sounded wonderful & is growing, learning & thriving in the Navy environment so far. I know he will be challenged & will have his ups & downs...But for now, we are one proud & tickled family looking forward to PIR Nov. 30th. :-)

I got my phone call!!! So excited to hear from him.  He sounded great.  A little emotional at the beginning, then right back to normal.  Yippy.  30 days and counting.  I am getting so excited.

Yes, the Bases will have a Holiday Leave Period. They will have to put a "chit" in requesting Leave and have it approved. The bases will advise their Sailors on everything.

Liberty is regular time off and Leave is earned days off. Active duty Servicememebrs receive 2.5 days of leave each month=30 days per year. So at the end of BC they will have 5 days of accrued leave.

My SR said they same thing, cause the schools close. we were not expecting that....

Phone call here too (Div 29) I feel higher then cloud 9 right now!!!!! He sounded soooo happy to be able to just hear my voice again. He apologized for his angry letter that he sent before he received my stack of mail and thought I was ignoring him lol He sent out his letters to me this Sunday and has already written two more since :) He also said he might be able to come home for Christmas so I'm super excited about that!!
