Safe travel for those leaving today and tomorrow...and a big HOOYAH and Bravo Zulu to the new sailors today!
ASH: Congrats to your sailor. So sorry that his parents have not been supportive in this...maybe inside, they are a bit fearful that he chose this? The military is not for the faint of heart! But I know that you will have extra love for him...and will cherish your time with him. We parents are real good about hiding our true emotions sometimes when it comes to our children...and sometimes that can be very hurtful to them. I hope that your sailor can eventually talk with you about it (and his parents too)...and realize that it sounds like the problem lies with the parents, and not with him...so that he can realize that they need to come to grips with this. They are missing such a wonderful ceremony on Friday....but so happy that you will be there! Just look at it this way...you won't have to share him! You can have him all to yourself!
HOOYAH to him....for a job well done!
Ash- I am so sorry...much love to you!!! I completely agree with Tamme! You have done an amazing job of being a supportive wife...it is hard and rewarding at the same time! Give yourself a pat on the back and keep doing what you are doing!
Love you!
Love to you Ash.. All us mom's will give your Sailor a collective hug. My mother-in-law doesnt' want to come either. "she just couldn't sit in the car 2 hours" Unless of course it's to one of her granddaughters functions. I possess the only 2 male children to carry on the name, not only in the immediate family but the extended family. She can't be bothered. My hubby,(her eldest son, but 2nd child) is a middle child and she will ALWAYs do for the other 2 and their children, but seldom for ours. Sad..... I feel for you and your hubby.
I Know we will all be your mom's.
Love ya...
Drama
it is SO COLD here in Htown.....oh well in less than 24 hrs we will be in CHICAGO.
one day closer to {{HUGGING}} my Sailor :-)
Just a lilght hearted story.
I DID sleep well last night, even though son is (was)going through BS. Ok the combination of drugs from 2 ear infections and a sinus infection + sheer exhaustion from work might have had a bit to do with it, but still slept well. Woke up watching the clock and imagining what all the BS 21 kids are going through....
Left for work, knowing gas in car was low, but thought I would get it at lunch. Luckily I only live 1.2 miles from work, but because of illness and snow (lots of snow) drove to work.
But alas, the travel gods laughed at me and said," No, you need to focus on other things, so we are going to run your car out of gas about a block from your house" and that they did. SOOOooo walked home ( it has just begun to snow at this point) and retrieved van and gas can and headed to gas station.
Got gas. Went back to car. No funnel on gas can. Drove home. No funnel in garage ( or in house). Used my wits and grabbed a water bottle and emptied it and cut bottom out so it would go down gas nozzle. Back to car. HAHA didn't work. wasn't long enough. Had grabbed a can of Heat and thought, well, it's nozzle is long enough.... of course there was no scissors, or knife in the van, but there was a screw driver. Emptied Heat into gas then opened bottom of Heat can, inserted water bottle so I would have larger opening to pour gas into and in a few minutes had put gas back in car. Drove Van home and walked back to car.... saying to God "ok, So you wanted me to stay focused on something else, but seriously,,,, running out of gas..... Ok thank you lord for not making it further from the house",
Made it to work where our staff computers all have viruii and my day will be spent "disinfecting" Hard drives... to keep my mind busy of couse!
Have a GREAT day everyone... I know I will.
Congrats to all the recruits on Ship 12 Div 39. Graduation on Friday and I am so looking forward to seeing my son. He leaves for San Antonio on Saturday for A-school. Safe travels to all who are making their way to graduation.
