Hmmm wonder how I got so lucky....guess I won't tempt the powers that be about Christmas...but my son's stuff had to be in before Thanksgiving...maybe it is because he is on hold..and he has a microwave and fridge in his room...lol...I don't know I just packed up a care package today with oreo balls, choc. covered pretzels, peanut butter cups, and other Christmas candy with the only request being his commanding officer wanted his own box...lol!! Oh well...hopefully things will ease up for you all as well...

reading all the posts, My son also said no food allowed. He also said no medications of any kind, cough syrup, tylenol, not even the medicated acne face cleaner. He said if they sell it in the NEX then you can have it. He did say they have until the 7th to turn in the chits and that if you don't stay on top of them, they take their time in approving them. So far I haven't heard yes or no to the leave time. My husband is going to be at the airport on the 17th to pick up his parents from FLORIDA.....too bad he couldn't make one trip and pick up everyone at one time. I don't think that will happen....we could always wish for it

Lexi- isn't the system lovely =[...i'm just ready for him to start aschool, bc then he'll be more relaxed.. Thats awesome gotta love being able to see and talk to them<3 I love my phone calls and when i get to see him makes me so excited i'm just beyond ready for this whole "brown bag" information to be processed...he seems to finish one thing to be told he needs something else... which is highly annoying.. Did you get to come down for thanks giving? My husband likes it, he'd like it more if he got his brown bag in to come home at night, but he's only been there for what maybe 3 weeks? if that...but i keep telling him this is SOOO much better then boot camp, i'd be more upset if this place was like boot. But all this def. does make or break you and i'm really glad that this is making us! Although i've been hearing this is breaking a couple people's relationships up.. thank goodness i'm not in that group(sorry if anyone else is =[)

Lynne- you sound like an AMAZING MOM!! how awesome is that with you housing her and making them feel welcome and i'm glad they know you're "practicing" on them lol thats just too cute!!! and i fully agree with you on chiding him when he is wrong haha guys do not like to face up to them being wrong but darn if we are wrong they dont hesistate to tell us! My husband will denie he's wrong until a couple days later haha and I just want to say your so darn hard headed! but i just leave it with his appoligy smile and walk away =] I really hope your son brings home a great girl!! Just make sure he's not scamming on some thats on the base...thats a whole nother story from my experience on this base so far and watching a couple of these girls... lets just say they need some restrictions on things...lol and yes i'm jealous how did he get that stuff to work! ugh lol but it doesn't suprise me this entire navy experience so far has been nothing but a fight ever since he left for bootcamp.. (fight with the recruitors and the military ID ppl, its like a never ending battle and it just seemed like this was the first time they sent someone to boot camp! sorry my venting haha=]) I'm really excited that your son will be comming home for christmas!!!

Hi preston and GMan...goood to see you both back here as well. Neat idea GMan. Hmm now if I knew what the quarterdeck was....lol! Ashley these inlaw issues are batty...lol...I am practicing up on the two young people who were with me at PIR. Brandon is my son's best friend and Shelsey is his girl-friend. She needed a place to stay...I moved her in...lol!! They hang out with me...I help her wash her clothes, help her bake things for him, give them lots of space, listen when she is frustrated, encourage them to talk things out and make them laugh...how am I doing girls...oh and I gently go in through the back door and chide him a bit when he is in the wrong...cause you know guys just don't get it some time....lol!!! So I am practicing so I have it down pat when my own son brings home that special girl and by the way they know I am practicing on them....they think it is hilarious....lol!!! They asked me the other day if I could train their parents....this weekend Shelsey and I are doing manicures...lol!! I am wicked huh!!! I tell her I could do with her for the rest of her life if she could just turn her eyes on my "perfect" son....Brandon raises his eyebrows and Shelsey laughs....oh well...a mom has to try...lol!!

But here is the funny story...they broke up for awhile late in the summer and Shelsey got a little tattoo (I told her not to) that said "love is evol"... you know a woman scorned...so omg she was like what am I going to do...he will know I did it because we broke up...well this took some great thought...she is now the proud new owner of a little bigger tattoo that says..."love is evolving".....gotta love me huh!!! I told her no more tattoos when you are upset...they are tough to get rid of....lol the funniest part is she made me go with her to get it...so picture it...handicapp bus drops me off at tattoo parlor on a busy street...good lord I hope I am not the talk of the town...lol

Have a good week all!!

My son had no problem with the system at P-cola...don't throw tomatoes at me y'all...got his itenerary approved, tickets bought and is coming home the 18th until the 28th.

aw thats a sweet idea! Oh and Note please lol i dont know if anyone's sailor has said this to you or not.. but they aren't allowed to have food anytype of food past the "quarterdeck" so keep this in mind when sending bulk candy or jerky lol although i hear "franklin"( a higher up) Loves his Gummy worms haha so if you're sending anything make sure you add some gummy worms lol my husband was telling me this bc a couple of sailors recieved ALOT of candy and of course shared with everyone which is really sweet of him! but i just wanted to say that since i remembered =]

Hello friends! I thought I'd share a idea I did my Sailor. I wrapped a small present (food card, candybar etc. for each day in December until he can come home. A small piece of home till he is home. Have a great Christmas and thank your Sailors for me.
