Hello, Friends,
My daughter just called (for more security clearance info), and the information she has been given is that Ship 02 Division 951 will be doing Battle Stations on Tuesday. It would appear that our recruits are being given conflicting information; so if we don't hear from them on Monday morning, we shouldn't panic. Sometimes no news is good news...and maybe that call will be coming on Wednesday morning instead.

Laura: Any time a recruit is "asmoed" (setback), he/she has to call home from an administration office (in front of personnel) with this info...short and scripted call. When they are within a week of PIR, if they have not passed all of their required tests, they call home to say that they won't be at PIR. This plays havoc with PIR plans for parents....because in actuality, if this is just due to a test failure, they have a chance to take it again and then go through BStations with another group if they have missed theirs. I know of one mom....her daughter had not made her run (a common failure). FINALLY she made it on Thurs morning, the day before PIR. She called her parents to tell them...she would go through BStations that night with the next PIR group's first group...but she would be at PIR the next day if she passed. The parents threw their gear in their car and drove the 6 hours to get there, in full confidence that she would be at PIR. And she was! Normally they are supposed to sit in the balcony due to being up all night...but she was so excited, that she was able to march with her division.

Usually the ones who miss their PIR because of test failure are not allowed to attend another PIR. They participate in the capping ceremony with the BStations group they go with, and then they head off to A School.

Soooo....we pray that they pass all of their tests in a timely manner, go through BStations with their group, and become sailors...and for most, this happens. But if there is a glitch, don't worry....they will be given chances to pass until they do...it took one recruit 5 weeks to make her run, but she DID it. If they are sick or injured and removed from their division...then they are constantly evaluated to see when they can resume training. If their academic work is not completed, I believe they are able to do that while in RCU.

So.....prayers for all of them to get it done!

If by some chance our recruits don't go to BS21 and are held back from some matter, do we find out and when might that happen? I'm hoping for the best, but just wondered.

Hi all. I debated on whether to post, but decided that we definately are all in this together and when one of our recruits needs prayers and good thoughts, then we will all be there.
I mentioned before about my son's severe shin splints. Got a letter yesterday and he said he did do a run for 40 minutes non stop last week and they did well, so we are hopeful that he will pass that final run test this week. But, he had the CT scan that was ordered after the ultra sound several weeks ago. I think this is all related to the abdominal region. Ct scan shows a mass. He didn't say where. Now will have an MRI on Thursday. This could hold him back, for further evaluation, but hopefully if he passes the run then he'll go through BS21 and be able to graduate next week. We are on pins and needles just praying for his good health. He's so fired up to get to Nuke school.
Appreciate all your thoughts and prayers. Hopefully we will be at graduation next Friday.
