Just a couple of miles from base. They normally share a cab to get their things.

Rem if grad and go but not A school at GL you can go to airport and normal spend more time with and gave the backpack with cell, laptop and civi clothes then. DON'T forget the chargers too:-) Normally whole Div is G&G or not, but don't bet the farm, its still the Navy.

TrayaLovesJohn: There are no "tickets" for PIR. They go by the names on the form letter...but with proper ID, extras usually get in. Can your dad wear his uniform? They love it when the retirees come in uniform and may get some special treatment!

MJS: They can be GradNGo to Great Lakes A School ...or not. IF he is GradNGo, he will say goodbye to you after PIR for 3-5 hours as he moves everything over to the A School base. Then he can call you (with his phone card....no cell yet) to meet him. He possibly would get overnight liberty with you then for the weekend. When he returns to the A School base, he can have his cell and laptop.

If he is NOT GradNGo over to GL A School, then you take him with you after PIR for liberty, and he is under RTC rules...which means, back each night, can't take anything back to base with him. If you leave town before he is moved to A School base, you may want to rent a locker at Lock and Go in town there to hold his cell and laptop until he moves and can get them (the sailors usually share a cab to go retrieve these once on the base).

Hope this helps!
