IndianaMom: There is no guarantee....and they are told at bc that extras will not get in....but they do try to accommodate as best they can. I believe they have them in the Visitor's Center there until all "on the list" are seated....but sometimes they may make an exception and let an extra in earlier. I hope that they go regardless because even if the worst happened, they still would have the time with your sailor afterwards.

I am starting to get worried due to the size of our graduating class that I wont be able to get my parents in to see the ceremony. Any mom out there that had a previous recruit go through PIR with a large class have any trouble getting extra people in? I know everyone says that they have never heard of anyone being turned away, but there is always the first right? Thanks everyone - debbie

Okay y'all good morning...I got kind of a sad letter from my son...he is a bit downn...which was a change from his last letter but his buddy got sent home on a medical discharge....that he had gone through DEP with...so he was bummed...but he will survive and is probably already feeling better.

Let's go over the names and stuff issue. It is important to remember that "prying" eyes often read these chats such as the recruits RDC's who we absolutely love and know they are helping our recruits everyday :) However, I have always suggested to folks that anonymous is the best for each of our recruits so pictures of your recruits, using their first or last names in your names may bring unwanted attention to them. I always try to refer to my son simply as my recruit...and I would suggest you do the same...and never use their name. Dianne and I just had this chat the othe day and I know she is in agreement with me...although she can call me out...if I am using her name in vain...lol!!

This is also why some of you have felt the axe of my delete button because remarks that seem simply like venting to you may be used for different purposes when read by "prying" eyes. I do the things I do not to hurt or upset any of you, but rather to protect not only your recruit but all the recruits in a division, because an off-hand remark by one of us can affect a whole division and trust me it has happened!

@sunnydg: FMF=Fleet Marine Force
Many of the Navy rates (jobs) train with the Marines and work with the Marines, including corpsmen and RP (Religious Personnel). The Navy also takes the Marines onboard to deliver them to their overseas posts. One of my N4M friends took a "gator cruise" on her son's ship....a family cruise offered occasionally so that families can experience a little of what their sailors do onboard. She said that the ladies on this cruise slept in the Marine berth section of the ship. There is a great relationship between the Navy and Marines. Good to see our military branches working together for the good or our country!!
