For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by diannep on October 11, 2010 at 12:59pm: Sandi: I'm assuming "reclassify" means that he can choose a different rate and go to school for that if there is space available. I have never heard about A school electronically though so I can't offer info on that.

As Lynn said, it's a quiet day in the mail, but the end of all the madness in bootcamp is coming to end. I, myself, am counting the days to see my wife, just like you're all waiting to see your husband, son, nephew, daughter, wife. I'm keeping you all in my prayers and would hope that i'm in yours.

Comment by Lynne on October 11, 2010 at 10:17am: And our group is still growing...good morning all and happy Monday....I hope things are well with each of you...Unfortunately today is a quiet day for mail...although I am sure Mitch is glad for a day off...lol....hope he doesn't spend it in the doghouse....muahhhhh.....poor Mitch he may never live that down...maybe our recruits are getting a little well deserved time off...then again maybe not...lol...but it is getting so close to the end perhaps they can taste it! Well, it is the beginning of another week...and we are counting down those days so march on Navy Moms march on...we have only 24 days to the goal!!

Don't know when they'll be leaving for A school, but so far he's not a grad n go. Recruiter had told us it might take a few weeks for a class to fill up, not sure if he'll stay in GL to wait for that, or go on to Charleston to wait... I've heard both.

The good news is if they are celebrating this holiday as well then that means they may get extra time to write so it could be a very good week for letters. :-)
