Oooops! Jessica, you may be right! I have heard so many conflicting things about sending "things" that were not letters. One mom said that her son had to do IT to get something she sent....but sometimes that's worth it to the recruit! Pens sound pretty innocent....I guess I just err on the side of caution! :-)

Tracy: He would have to get that cleared with his RDC's---sending the pens. He may be allowed to have them, but I would not send them without him getting the ok.

Got a call today. Boy, it sure was nice to hear his voice again! He said it is easy, as long as you do as you're told. No problems yet, and he has so far passed all tests. This week they will be shooting, and I think he's looking forward to that. His call was short, because his group had to wait for phones to be freed up. :( But, I got to talk to him, and that's all that matters. I asked if there was anything he wanted me to send - pics, stamps, phone cards, etc... he said he needed pens. Can I send those to him? I was thinking it had to fit in a standard envelope, which technically pens would, but I wouldn't think it would be allowed in because of the bulkiness. Any one know if I can do this? Thanks!

AVNAVY - when my son called me with a calling card, it showed up as "pay-phone" with the 847 area code
