Laura: Sounds like he will be "on hold" at the GL base until A School. They do indoc (getting familiar with the base, processing, etc) for a few days, and he will probably do watches, etc. It can get rather boring for them when in "hold" (my son was in hold at the end of A School), but most of them do it. It is part of the Navy: Hurry up and wait!

LogansMom: Yes, since he is not G&Go, he will not be able to take cell, etc back to base since he will remain on RTC until Wed. Will you all leave before Wed? If so, you can rent him a locker in GL (Lock and Go-2323 Greenbay Rd, phone: 847-578-0161) and store his things in there for him. He can pick them up after he is settled on the GL base. My son was not at GL, but I have friends who sons are...so if I can help, please let me know, ok?

Okay all, its a new day, and this mom has had her pout and I am done...I am just going to go to Pensacola and find myself a place to stay for awhile so my son can drop by when he has liberty...part of the joys of being alone and being retired in a way. Actually I am not retired but my job is portable...because it is online..so its a new day and I have a new sense of strength..sorry for the lapse..

If my son was grad and go, staying in GL. He says now he's on hold for a month because A school is full. What happens next and who would he be assigned to, school or stay at bc til there is room? He mentioned that he'll still be in GL doing whatever they need him to do.
