Hi all.

Amilia Grumma, I was SO excited when Haylee contacted me on Facebook and I called Reece right away, (love having him in Great Lakes with his new cell phone,) and he was even more excited to hear that I heard from her! They are now facebook friends. He said he is going to visit her on his next liberty. He actually saw her fall that day and he has worried about her since! She sounds like an AMAZINGLY strong young lady, and I can see why you are so proud of her!

Jckship02: I became an expert on public transportation while at the graduation. We were there for 6 days and we had between 6 and 9 people to haul from place to place with us at all times, so a rental car for that many people was out of the question. The cab fare to Midway from base averages around 70 dollars. We actually were able to take the train to O'hare, and to Midway. The train ride to Midway was between 2 and 3 hours long. We got on the Metra across from the VA hospital, (and Corpsman barraks where my son is,) and rode it into Union station. From there we took the orange line to Midway...the very last stop.

If anyone else has questions about the busses, cabs, Metra or the subway, just ask me...thank goodness all my traveling companions, (husband, sons and the Sailor's Girlfriend,) were amazingly easy travelers.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say hi, still trying to adjust to not having my sailor home. Hard adjustment. He is dealing with being in Florida, which has been nice for him and him and his GF breaking up. I think they have been arguing on the phone. But he said he is making friends and hanging out with them. I dont think they will give him time to be depress. He doesnt think he will be home till after Christmas, makes me sad. Well I hope everyone is doing well. I am feeling I need way to much support. I am usually on Facebook alot.

LOL Tammie. Just got your personal message after my last entry. We'll have to look into that 2- 1 way tickets. Thanks. And glad you got to talk to T!

Tammie...I text Andy to tell him to find your son so he could call you. A bunch of the guys went to sprint to get new phones that have pretty much unlimited everything. Andy told me they won't tell them which days they will for sure get leave until after Thanksgiving. This stinks because the tickets go up and up as we wait. Monica has been awesome to me too. We actually shipped Andy's stuff to her apt. so Andy could get it as soon as it came in. He didn't have to worry about multiple people sorting stuff before he gets it. Maybe the boys can fly in together. I told Andy to fly into GB because we have no idea what the weather will be. It's 30 miles to GB for us. We'll keep in touch. Looks like our boys will be on hold til January...UGH. They are volunteering alot and doing extra PT. Andy's wrist has been bothering him again so he's glad they have to wait. It'll give the wrist alittle more time to heal before being real stressed. TTYL

Amelia - I have been wondering how Halee is doing and waiting for some info from you. Know that all along we have been thinking about her and praying for her, and her roommate, to get well and carry on. that is really great that she has been in contact with someone from her division. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving visiting with her. Let her know we all still send good thoughts her way.

Well, we made it home safely...Next time I want to fly!! The drive to GL was fun knowing what was at the end, my Sailor, Alex! The drive home, we had snow, rain, sleet, and it was cold. Left a nice deposit in Reno, but made it home! Alex is in Conn, and doesn't start school until Dec 6. He said there is nothing to do there. Course he and a few of the others have already been to the mall. He bought a new phone and has been in contact with me. I just love that!
Like everyone else, I'm venturing out, but it just isn't the same, you always want to come home!

Girls update at the VA Medical Center!

Halee was told that she would remain in her division and finish up as a straggler for BS21 once she rehabs--but most importantly--having been only 4 days from BS--she'll still be part of S7/Div 356!

Well--the girls are still doing well at the VA --well at least as well as can be expected with their limitations!

"V" mom is flying in to visit her on the 19th for two days and hopefully I will follow up with Thanksgiving dinner later that week.

Halee tells me that they are now providing craft items for them to work on--keeping them busy! She has one project almost done! She has 3 more weeks in the long cast and looks like I may be spending Thanksgiving in North Chicago! :-) So long as they don't change there mind--which is daily! LOL

So my plans will be driving in this time--so I can haul dinner in with me! & maybe bring one of her friends with me as well. My hubby--depends on whether his plant is working black Friday or not if he can go with me. Our visit is still dependent on whether they leave Halee at the VA -- RCU says she'd need a corpman as an assistant during her time with a long leg cast--and we know thats not going to happen! So the battle is between the RCU & the drs. wanting to discharge her from the VA.

She also made contact with one of her fellow sailor's from her division and he's in A school @ Great Lakes--He was a Yeoman in her division. Connected through his mom! So RB's mom that connected with my daughter--she was so excited. Message me so I can give your her hosptial number so he can check up with her.

It's a glorious beautiful day here in PA...so I'm going to try and enjoy it--expecting today to be the "last" nice day as the freezing weather is forecast for the next week!

Take care,
Tracy

Good Afternoon All, It is so nice to read about how all of your sailors are doing. Mine is doing really well. He called last night, Said he should have internet and cable on Monday. He sounds really happy, and anxious to get his school started. He doesnt start till end of next week. Kylesmom: understand about taking care of kids, parents and working. We did this for many years with both my husbands parents and mine. My dad lived with us for 8 yrs. It can be overwhelming and quite tiring at times. But well worth it. I am so glad for this site, I too feel like it is home. Been on several sites, but they are just not the same. Hope everyone has a good weekend.
