FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

wow she gets all those days....my son only gets 10 days and has to choose between the days the base is on stand down...lol...that is neat

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas military people say hello to their families and the little quips are sent to their local television stations for televising....

Thanks for the info everyone who answered. I got a call from my sailor today. He is moved in, all is going well. Bunking with a buddy from his Div in BC. Starts around the 22nd. Got his address today so I am sending him his phone tomorrow!! Will send him more stuff in the next few days. Not sure how some got to go into town today when he said the "new guys" had to stay on the base. Oh well. He is planning to go into town or Chicago this weekend with some friends. See all you Corpsmen moms on the A-School for Corpsman discussion group!!!

I just purchased a ticket for Jerrika, she gets to come home for Christmas, Dec 18th and doesn,t have to go back till Jan 2nd. I get to talk to her every day.She is in A-school at GL.

PRESS RELEASES:

They do send out press releases about graduation. My son's was sent to the local paper where we live and the local paper nearest us. The editor of the paper knows him well (population 2070 lol) from his sports career in high school, she contacted me and asked for a picture to go with the press release for today's paper. He made the front page under Hometown Heroes....it was very nice.
