Hot Update for Cardinal Company: 3:35 AM - received call - pulling into Great Lakes Area - the RTC's let them sleep an hour or so, otherwise been talking. My son sounded tired and nervous. He said the RTC said first phone call won't be for six weeks. I hope that was bs....but I guess we shall see.

Welcome to the PIR group. It sure is exciting to know that our young sailor recruits are on their way to fulfilling their dreams. My son is a part of Cardinal Company and as I write this is traveling from St. Louis to Chicago by bus with the other 85 members of his group. They will be joining many other recruits over the next few days. His company is all male and for the past few days learned to march, completed their paperwork, and had some down time to get to know each other and their RTC's. However, when the boarded the bus, I think everything changed and I got a whispered call where I could hear a lot of yelling in the background. I guess bootcamp has begun. I am excited to meet each of you and hope we can share this journey together. Just as our children will support and encourage each other, so can we.
