Bug5280,
If you don't have an extra family member who wouldn't mind babysitting and would be able to see your new Sailor after PIR and spend time with him/her, contact your hotel to see if they have any recommendations~~
Or maybe another Navy family here has someone going and staying in the same hotel who could help you out~~
honor.courage.commitment,
The Meet & Greet is in the Events area on the lower left of this page. The address is there too. Click on it, then it will bring you to the page where you need to respond if you will be attending. After that, go down to the comment box and put down how many people in your party will be there, so Sarge can plan for how much food to have~~ I think most people start showing up between 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm...
Ladies the clock is ticking...Get your winter gear ready we're headed to Great Lakes. To see our SR'S become U.S. Navy sailor's. So proud of our future Sailor's. So proud of all the parents, and love ones, teachers, familiy and friends who have supported them. I'm unsure of the meet and greets location and time? I purchursed two coins one for his ship U.S.S Arizona, and the other coin Honor.Courage.Commitment. Can't wait to til PIR.
Thanks Megan . The Sears Tower is something he and his father can go see or he can see later on since he will be staying there for A school. I have a terrible phobia on heights
CatMom: Humidity here is lower in the winter months, highest in Spring - Fall months. Stifling May-Sept!
Splash,
Minnesota has freezing cold winters, Florida has the searing heat/humidity, Arizona & Las Vegas just HOT, and California we have some humidity sometimes, some hot, some cold (30*-50*). Nice balance, but still able to get to other areas (driving) and come back. Plus all our amusement parks, but not huge like Walt Disney World~~
I was gonna say everybody go to Hawaii, but I think I can handle it for about 3 years? I could drive around Oahu in 1 day!!
diannep,
I didn't realize the humidity element stayed with you all through the winter? Thought it was only that way during the hottest summer months!
One time we flew to St Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands in September or October with a layover in Miami. Going through that little tunnel from the plane to the airport was YIKERS!! That was a little hint of Florida humidity/heat weather for me!!
Hello All!
Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him."
Proverbs 30:5
diannep...I think the snowbird idea sounds great. Retirement is not too far away!
splash: Yep, you know what it is like! It sucks the energy from you....you learn to get everything done in the early morning because from noon on, HOT and draining!
Having said that, consider being a snowbird one day! Then you get the best of best worlds....your FL oasis for our nice months, and then your own world of your choosing!
