Mlmathis- First, here is a hug
Sorry the first call was down. Yes, no doubt being sick just adds to homesickness. Glad he was on SIQ (Sick in Quarters) though to get some rest and a shot (ouch). Will pray for a speedy recovery.
Calls home can be up and down. Mine were.
He'll get better at the folding...they'll do it enough...over and over and over and over...did I say "over" ?
Ha, who knew you could fold a t-shirt into the size of a deck of cards? LOL
Oh and yes, pictures are fine. Just send a few really special ones. Wallet size are best, OR you can print them onto the back of your letter if your handy with your computer.
Mlmathis,
Prayers that your SR son is A-OK and training well!!
On pics, we suggest you print the pics onto the paper to be part of your letter. It weighs less than actual photos and you can get more pics on a page by copying them.. I used pics of our cats and pretty scenes around our yard and our church and family pics as "letterhead" on the top of my letters~~
terrievan,
Happy Birthday to your SR son today!! Have a great celebration in his honor with your family~~
ilovemyjob,
Do you need some sort of comparison? Navy Lodge has the better rate, clean accommodations, continental breakfast, shuttle for $2.00 roundrtrip, NEX shopping pass for small NEX by them where you can shop without having your Sailor with you (normally you have to have your Sailor with you to shop at a NEX) , and Navy Lodge is off a roadway off to itself and no restaurants nearby that I know of.
Holiday Inn Express is a newer hotel, also nice and clean accommodations; hot served yourself breakfast w/ waffle, biscuits & gravy, bacon, sausage, eggs plus continental stuff; indoor pool; serviced by Sarge's shuttle to PIR ($3.00 each way); and there is a McDonald's right next to the hotel and a SuperWalmart with many places to eat right there on the next large block. The Sundance Saloon where Sarge's Meet & Greet (totally family & kid friendly!) is across the street from the SuperWalmart center.
You can easily drive to this area from Navy Lodge though. Also easy enough to re-book at Holiday Inn Express. Your choice~
Good Morning!
"A man has joy by the answer of his mouth,
and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!"
Proverbs 15:23
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my son SR Ethan, Ship 12 Div. 035....I love you son....have an awesome day!!! I miss you so much.....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my SR son on his 20th birthday today. I will miss fixing your favorite cake and spending special time with you. I love and miss you more than words....Ship 12 DIv. 035....Have a great day my son!!
Good morning everyone, it looks like many of you found the wrong facebook page. That is a new group and we are not sure how closely it is monitored nor if they screen those asking to join. Our groups are very closely monitored and we do our best to make sure those who are joining really do have a recruit graduating for that PIR date. You do always need to be careful what you post anywhere online, never share personal information and always obey OPSEC. Our facebook groups are private and no one can see anything you post there unless they are a member but you still must be careful. Nothing online is 100% safe. Here is the correct link for our facebook group for your PIR. Just remember to stay active here in this group as well :)
I think some of you found the wrong facebook page. I am not sure how well it is monitored. Here is the correct link please share it. https://www.facebook.com/groups/385322424958053/ Thanks, Lora
I agree with Diannep, be sure and read the reviews, we have heard some horror stories from some members who have stayed at some hotels.
Booked our rooms at the Holiday Inn Express this morning. Took my first letter to my son to the Post Office, didn't want it sitting in the mailbox all day long. Bought him a phone card and now just waiting to get a phone call from him.
