Barbie (Tommy's Mom),

As soon as your PIR group can start to have a Discussion Forum here in the next week or so,  you can start a Basket Project to help Sarge and his wife out.  You will all need a centrral place to pop into to discuss what you each would like to bring.  If you put it here, they will get lost as more people post.   This is voluntary, ladies, but oh, so fun!!

You can start off with calling Sarge to let him know this PIR group would like to help him out.  847-212-0246.  Thanks for offering to help!

navymom,

During the holiday "stand down," half of the base will be able to take leave during the week of Christmas and the other 1/2 on the week of New Years.  They will be allowed to "go into the hole" and owe leave days to the Navy.  Be aware that the Navy cuts it close when it comes to approving leave, so your Sailors will have to submit their Chit (request paperwork) quickly!

Hello ladies!  I've noticed within the comments on the left side of the page something about raffling baskets at Sarge's Meet N Greet.  I know we have several weeks before our PIR, but would love to get started on putting a basket together to raffle off.  Can someone point me in the right direction for the do's and don'ts?  Thanks!

Excited for those who received phone calls this weekend.  We had a short call from our SR last Saturday, but nothing this weekend.  Even though others from 03/028 were able to call...so of course, my mind is racing as to why he didn't get to call us. Ugh...staying as positive as possible with the "no news is good news".  Happy Sunday everyone! Have a blessed week!

Do any of you know if you can come home for Christmas if you are in A school?

Oooops!  Just saw that Lala already suggested what I said below!  Sorry, Lala!

So now that 2 N4Moms veterans have told you it is a good thing, you know it is a good thing!  It is actually one of Sarge's hints!  :-)

To add to Lala's suggestion about driving on PIR morning.  Stay to the far left, bypass RTC, turn around at the train station right past there, head back to RTC from that direction and it is an easy and quick left turn onto RTC!

Good morning!

We drove to PIR and it worked out fine for us. We had a huge PIR with 13 divisions graduating just like you have for this group. So there will be more traffic and also more people riding the shuttles as well. Get there as early as you possibly can to get the best seats. If you are driving you can avoid some of the traffic. When you see a line forming on the highway stay one lane left of that row. That far right lane (where they are all lined up) ends and they will need to merge left one lane so if you stay in the lane left of the line you will miss some of that. You can also go past the base and turn around and come from the other direction where there isn't as much traffic. The best thing to do if you plan to drive is get there early enough the day before to check out your route from your hotel. That will make it a lot easier :)
