Anti M, How very special you have such a great treasure from your parents.
LOl, excitement. I really can spell.
I love the exceoitement in here.
I hope you all don't mind of I share this: This past weekend, I found the letters dad wrote to mom from boot camp, before they were married. In 1941, he was just 18. He was super busy, the shots made him sick, and would she please write, it meant everything to him to have such a great girl. He would get 36 hours of leave in May and could hardly wait to see her. Nothing changes, does it? I can't wait to read the others. There are a few from during the war, not many. Long gaps in the dates on the envelopes.
Whoot Whoot Cindy! Sounds like a very nice letter. Congratulations! Battlestations for 024 is either Tuesday or Wednesday - we'll know when we get the call!
Cindy, How wonderful to get a letter today. I hope your travels are safe. We are leaving to tomorrow morning and flying into OH to pick up my mom and then driving to Great Lakes. I hope all the delays will be cleared up at the airport.
HooooRaaaaah! I got a letter today!!! Few, and what a letter this was, and very much needed! First great thing...it was addressed just to "ME" :) :)!!!! Now ladies not sure what to think about BS for Div 024! He said in the letter Battle Stations are set for Tuesday into Wednesday and this letter is dated December 7, 2010. He also mentions a 'really big test' on Monday that he was worried about...he said if 'they' fail they get set back a week and following that test was BS on Tuesday and Wednesday. So, I am going to assume since none of us from Div 024 heard anything that Monday's test must have went WELL!!! :o)~ gas Chamber was indeed last Thursday and they had Firefighting all week. He is very sick he said (last week anyway) He said he got 'sicker than ever after they gave them their shots again!" He 'just wanted to crawl into his bed at home and watch a movie!" He misses that the most (his bed) and my home cooked meals ;o)! He also "wanted to thank me very much for all my letters, they really helped a lot!" I am CRYING!!!! Can't wait ...to hug him!!! Oh, and he did order photo's and the package that I wanted :)! @Kathy Minnetonka is way south of me...but we all got hit! @Lukesgirl, yes we are driving down to GL, leaving early Thursday morning...hoping by 6:00 am to take it nice and slow.
Thanks for listening ladies!
Cindy
Thank you, sportsmom! That was a great blog to read. I did, however, bring tears to my eyes. I wish I could go with my husband. I am sure I will be crying of and on all day Friday as I wait for both of them to get home. I may have to go pick up my youngest from school early, so I have some company! I am grateful that I have my son home until the 26th when he leaves again for A school.
CJ's Mom. . . I am not sure I was every sane to begin with!
Finally got dug out yesterday afternoon! I am nervous and ready for the phone to ring. Seems like it never will.
Remember this too shall pass and we will be sane again.
My brother just sent me a text to say he was definitely driving from MN (Minnetonka) on Thursday. He said weather should be good Thursday, but he did say some more snow predicted for Wed. Lukesgirl, I used to work in Human Resources at a Nursing home in Maine and the safety person would scold me for not wearing "proper footwear". I could run in heels. . . not snow and heels, although I probably tried a few times!
